remembering the time i did a cop event on city 24 in 2017 (6 years ago btw) and it was a murder mystery of a loyalist who had been killed in an apartment and the cops had to do actual detective work to solve the case

a well known headcop at the time was taking part, saw that the event involved cops doing actual investigation (asking witnesses questions, searching crime scenes, etc.) and literally turned around said in LOOC ".// alright im leaving" and walked out of the event

after that point i rarely made events for cops based solely on that interaction, it showed me the reason most people join civil protection - to hit people with a stick and not think about things

@The Red Devil Tried to kill himself after his Patrol Team shot the murderer as soon as they found him at the end of an detective event before they could ask him any questions

you'd think every single cop was part of a vast criminal conspiracy of corruption if they kept killing all their suspects... but the truth is they were dumb as rocks and basically have two modes: do nothing or kill

the pushback on detectives right as they were introduced was pretty abysmal

"noooo don't add this role it will steal all our roleplay!!! it will stop us from solving crimes and getting rp development!!!"

bro what fucking development you died in the past 3 sweeps and shrugged it off, you spend your nights with an egyptian in the back of an apc, and your roleplay consists on threatening to murder anyone who doesn't follow the Securitate empathy guidebook and hit citizens with sentence binds describing how you cripple them for life in a single stunstick hit

oh its well known that headcops are retards

i still think about the time one threw a grenade into a room filled with highly explosive materials and blew up every CP online because he didn't want to negotiate with a hostage taker

Detectives was pretty cool idea all things considered. I can't remember if the last time on C08 they were a thing or not? But either-way, it still sounds cool.

I remember there being another one in this iterations C24. I was a CP involved in a case regarding a Loyalist who was supposedly a spy/ operating a rebel listening post right below our barracks. Kiko's RL and I dealt with it. Ended up in a cool little S2RP gunfight in the end.

With one grenade he stopped a hostage situation, and detonated explosive ordinance in a controlled manner. Sounds pretty utilitarian to me.

When cops were actually given a shot in closed events more often than not they did great and got great roleplay out of it. Problem was they just weren't given the same chances as rebels were.

Rebels, by contrast, would usually break their character to suit whatever heroic or interesting thing went on in events which made them easier to work with, and they didn't have the same stigma as cops (even when a lot of people absolutely deserved to be thrown to the curb RebelRp wise lmao).

Main server event wise? I'd rather deal with cops every time. Never seen anything as bad as the rebel players threatening to quit @Blackquill's event because they weren't given ammo, or the attitudes shown in the last two events Nexus ran.

Honestly there was also the fact that most of the time the time people gave cops the most cookie-cutter shit possible for their events.

I remember someone made a cop event that was just a stereotypical hostage rescue on the event server. That was it. And then when cops solved it like a stereotypical hostage rescue they mocked those involved on the forums for "not being creative". Like, pick five random rebels and tell them to go save someone from some cops or OTA and do you think you'd get some mastermind thoughtful Rp either?

The few times people actually challenged cops in something that wasn't just CopRP: event server edition they'd come out of it with nothing but praise because they picked the good roleplayers and let them roleplay, like that one event with the hidden rogue.

Even CAB got given more interesting RP scenarios than cops ever did.

honestly the very final cast of rebels was pretty mid (with exceptions ofc) and being an onlooker felt like i was watching my baby being stabbed with a knife, that had THE MATRIX plastered across it giant bold italics underlined comic sans letters
