Let me tell you from experience; if you offer someone the chance to be a rebel without a paywall/literal wall or stay a citizen, maybe 1/10 people will stay a citizen, guaranteed. You'd bleed citizen population by the bucketful.

Nothing you can give a citizen will, unless they stick to their character religiously, make them want to stay as one if you say "here, you can go join the rebels."
As I said in the other thread, a paywall isn't wrong and I am all up for it. The way it was done though was utter shit.

My only issue with this map is how confusing the districts are, in maps like C8, i17 and even C24 there was a city, then there was a rebel zone and (Usually) a middleground or D4, whereas this map is just a sprawling maze intertwined underneath the city and the only real resistance zone is just under the traintracks where CP's would realistically patrol. I'm sure it'd be a good idea to plan the areas out assuming you haven't already.

There are a few spots where there should be a door but it's just a texture, you can fly through in noclip for full functionality but you can't open the door.

The patrolling scanners are part of the map and are for some reason completely unkillable too which is really pissy.

Oh... I thought they were joking with d47. Were the sewers made bigger in any way? Because I think resistance won't be comfortable in all those small rooms. Same goes with citizens. I know entire map as my own pocket and it's not hard to learn it due its size. Also, will it fit 80+ players?

I can confirm it'll fit that number. We had about that on LP when we used the first version of the map. It's bigger than it appears to be, even with that number wandering about.

saying that c24 is a good map gameplay wise is objectively wrong unless you magically can fix clockwork to the point where it can run 200 players with no performance drop

aesthetically, yes, i agree but otherwise no

There's something that does not convince me about this map.
It's a bit of a mess you know? It's somewhat monotonous, it looks like an hl2 level, with just one path that could bring you everywhere;
and those invincible scanners flying around

The what seems to be the rebel place is just a rathole with small space, really goddamn small
Testing this map in single player feels somewhat confusional, the districts are just placed like shit

Rate this post whatever you want, but my opinion on this map is harsh

hl2 level

how absolutely horrifying that fucking finally we have a map for HALF LIFE 2 ROLEPLAY that looks like HALF LIFE 2.

thats what the resistance (at least within the city, outlands is another topic) should be. Hidden, secretive, underground. Not controlling a city district because 'dont enter or you get dwl'd from cop' or some other OOC bshit.

yes, but imagine all of us thrown in there, there'll be literally zero place to fit
and i don't really see any place where you can run or hide in case of a sweep (i could be wrong, correct me in case)

No, i don't. The place is absolutely huge, tight and a maze. CPs pursuing even tyrones will be actually fun instead of run 10 meters, dive off bridge, tunnel, ok, and has the feel of HL2.

wow just like a real city.

To be fair though, no, theres a lot of place to fit in, it's just not in the form of a giant six lane road.
There's so many interiors, enterable buildings, utility structures, alleyways and such where you can and will fit. If everyone in real life kiev left every building to stand in the street level you'd have a crowd too. It's called a riot or a demonstration.

and i don't really see any place where you can run or hide in case of a sweep (i could be wrong, correct me in case)
Then i don't want to flame but you're just fucking blind.

Same way as people complained theres 'nowhere to hide' on C24, despite over 70% of the already too big map being rebel areas where you can hide and not even realize a sweep went by.

Taking a look at this map, granted, theres no defined 'd4' to hide in and just instantly realize youre in the rebelzone, but that's a good thing. You can hide and act like in a real city. Hiding in attics, basements, sewers, shady alleyways, behind buildings, in industrial areas and so on, and the resistance might finally become assymetrical partisan warfare it is meant to be.

are one of these two new ‘event boxes’ going to be used for a rebel area considering past, somewhat popular suggestions about having a rebel area completely detached from the city and accessed via an area portal?
or am I overthinking it

@Zak is it possible to take out the fake scanners so the real scanners can do work?

Got no issue with a paywall but it's gotta be done right. Tokens don't make you a rebel, nor does hanging out in the area where a bunch of armed suited people are. What makes you a rebel is rising in opposition to the Universal Union, and this could literally be done by anyone, even in the city. The reason I'm for a paywall is because it keeps citizen roleplay alive and it inspires city rebels like the old days in d4. Reason I'm against it is because a paywall usually causes people to have the mindset of "If I'm not shitting tokens and if I'm not armed, I can't possibly be a rebel." Keeping citizen roleplay alive is really just giving people a reason to be a citizen, eventually becoming a loyalist if things work out right. I feel like citizen roleplay could be more populated if we had more events being ran by Board Representatives, and more Terminal involvement with articles being put out, even about individual citizens and their stories. Making people feel involved is key, which is usually why a lot of citizens come on for the elections and other events.

Well no because they’re for events mate.

I liked paywalls in a way, more citizen groups formed, like a surface italian mob, or a vietnamese one trying to make money. Meanwhile rebels could uh, ERP witouth bluesuits around.
