I had the fortune to see an Oppenheimer premiere because I helped research one of the Trinity scenes for historical accuracy. It is a beautiful portrait of a very, very, flawed human being. 3 hours was not long enough.
Saw the news that Ryuichi Sakamoto has passed away. I was first exposed to his music in Nebulous; with many of his melodies influencing the development of Seong and Tenzing. Not to mention how his soundtracks buttressed a great number of events run by @Dallas .
It's incredible where one finds inspiration. Thank you, Sakamoto-san.

Holding plutonium for the first time today...
One of the most visceral things you can't prepare for is the heat. It's like a freshly-brewed cup of coffee in a thin-walled ceramic mug. Except it never cools down. Ever.
Los Alamos lost every phone (landline and cell), television, and internet connection simultaneously between 11:30 pm on Saturday to 3:15 am on Monday. The fact that only our town went down was a bit suspicious. More than a handful of my coworkers and I thought this was the prelude to something a bit more... strategic.

Another September 11th, another day where I try to avoid as much of the remembrances as possible. Mostly because of the anger it produces inside of me. Anger directed towards the perpetrators, their enablers, and how global politics were so badly pushed off the rails because of it.
