Look up lead room/nose room and three point lighting, do it with lamps, also color of lighting in relative to your environment, i.e ( sun = faint blue lighting, inside/indoors = yellow/orange lighting.). Most lighting should be very subtle, just to the point where they're like oh hey, I notice...

Research will be your friend, my best advice is to do your own in-depth research. Use youtube channels like JayZTwoCents, PaulsHardware and BitWit, that's my reccomendation. They all have excellent guides on where to start, and how to start.

From when I do posing I try to hide all the imperfections off screen, like hand positions, but that's me.

My point is you waste money on pre built ones because they put in parts that aren't worth it for the price point. These prebuilds are typically using the marketing scheme of doing everything for you, and while it's convenient and reliable, it comes at a price which I don't think is worth it...
