cars are like real man's legos

and dont ever listen to someone if they say you need a college or university degree to learn about them; there's people who've built 1000-2000hp drag cars and they're entirely self taught.
what college or university even teaches you about cars? at least here the only way you can become a mechanic is through an apprenticeship lol

now there's courses you can take through organisations like tafe. there was this one i was looking at that ran for 2 years, costs 24k, and set u up with a couple certificates

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology and Certificate IV in Automotive Performance Enhancement they're called

i want cars to stay a hobby though so im prolly gonna look into some animal related course, idk what yet

imagine paying 24k to learn about cars when you can just watch some tutorials, walk into a garage and ask for a job

there's something called a 'mechanical engineering' major that most schools have, mechanical engineers tend to work with manufacturers on designing/building car's drivetrains rather than fix them like a mechanic

yeah but i'm talking about actually working on cars themselves rather than designing them, i'm aware what a mechanical engineer does

Supposedly, according to my woman friend who actually does it for a living, you sort of need to have your own set of tools to get into the industry. The idea is that the fact that you blew something like 4k on a decent set is your certificate of qualification. There are certified technical courses at colleges, but unless you're working at jiffy lube or for a large company dealership/manufacturer, you need your own tools. I know the guys that wrench on our ambulampses bring their own tools because they always fucking park in the bay.

me and about 60 other people in my town, all of us own guns

we go over drills, make plans in case of various emergencies, hold meetings, have dues, have elections, the whole 9 yards

if a state emergency happens we have the capability of taking over our local government and administering in a martial capacity if need be. Call it LARP but its something we find important, and I try my best to educate my fellow man in Civics for a better society
god I wish that were me
