I think my favourite line from his review was him basically saying

"characters getting the shit kicked out of them doesn't make them deep or complex"
It really says a lot about a game when you could go to 80% of our playerbase and get a more coherent, well thought-out and interesting story than what they accomplished

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined

ye exactly

my point is, to me it helps you feel sympathetic towards him, because you know jesse tries his best to do well and be a good person and yet he can’t help but get the shit beat out of him and land in deep shit all the time

obviously there’s a lot more to it than that, but with tlou2 i feel like they kinda just assumed that “oh well likeable character getting beaten up = sympathy right guys”

but they forgot to make the character likeable omegalul
I feel like this is a lot more to do with his failures in general, that's one of the reasons I loved that show as it really portrayed the crazy ups and downs you'd have when trying to find success in that sort of world rather than chad protagonist effortlessly overcomes obstacle for the 52nd time.

Joel had to die

But not at that point and not in that way

how based would it have been if instead of killing joel at the end of the game they killed ellie, leaving Joel alive to suffer in the knowledge he selfishly doomed all of humanity for nothing

I like to think Joel losing a second "daughter" is something players would feel worse for then a cute ngl.

I'd also love to see Joel and Tommy bro up and travel across country on a plot for revenge.

Plot twist, years later ellies grave has mushrooms growing on it (due to her mutation) which are then used to sythesize a cure??
