After Christmas, I started experiencing technical issues with my computer. In terms of changes made to the computer that could have caused this, I installed a Logitech camera, and moved the computer about half a meter.

The lag is usually once every 2-5 minutes, and is 10-30 seconds of complete 1fps lag system wide, including mouse, typing, programs, etc. Nothing wants to move, sounds hitch and stop, videos crush and skip 30 second segments once the lagging is finished, that kind of thing.

I checked task manager the moment I felt a lag spike coming and saw my System application go from taking up 2% of my CPU to 100% of it, so that might be the cause.

Anyone got any advice?

Check for damage to cables, check for new drivers, defrag harddrives if they need it, delete bloat from OS storage if you store other things there and it's near full capacity. Might be your CPU dying or other operation vital components failing

try booting into safe mode, if you still get spikes then yeah some component is probably fucked

considering it only started happening after relocating my computer from the back of my desk to the side of it

maybe i jostled a component out of place or some shit

This might be because one of its pieces is loose- Maybe something you missed or didn't see.

Means jb was spot-on. Though, maybe it isn't something from a socket, but some other piece that may even need soldering. One never knows - HIGHLY UNLIKELY though. Most likely something from a socket.

i wouldn't advice smacking your pc

take the case apart and make control checks on all the screws and bits within your machine

opened up the case and re-affirmed everything is in

gave everything a firm push, tightened the screws, etc

will tell you how things go

Make sure your ram is in properly, something like this happened to me before and that was the issue.
agreed

if the issue persists or your pc wont boot properly/randomly shuts down still try moving up your ram ports by 1 respectively

also please please please don't tug or push on any parts beyond meeting slight resistance

it might actually be an internet thing

i checked task manager and saw that my DNS was also taking up huge %'s of my PC during lag spikes

i turned off my ethernet and turned it back on, and am restarting my router
