IDK how many of you know this yet, but Kentaro Miura, mangaka of Berserk, died at the age of 54.
I usually don't feel all that affected by the death of some celebrity or an artist, but this genuinely had me tearing up. RIP

The insane influence he had in the whole manga, anime, and even games scene was insane, truly a great figure.

He was a legend, it's a damn shame we never got to see his story finished

From what I understand, he has been working with several assistants as part of his own studio, Studio Gaga, for the past few years. They have been assisting him with the odd panel here and there for Berserk, and it served as an opportunity for them to learn his style. They even made a short manga called Duranki.

My (hopeful) speculation is that Miura probably foresaw an early retirement (or death, who knows) and wanted to obtain assistants to carry on his work when he finished. I don't believe it's too far out of the question that the assistants at Studio Gaga were told by Miura himself how Berserk ends. Maybe. If they are to finish Berserk themselves, I have faith they will do a good job.

my hype for that bladerunner anime with the stacked team (shinchiro watanbe, etc) just got obliterated because i learned that its being done in full 3d cg by the same people that made that godawful looking ghost in the shell sac 2045 netflix show

just letting you guys know ahead of time that this will literally be anime of the year and there's simply no contest whatsoever.

The manga was pretty good

the kind of a story where nearly anyone can die, goals change, some manipulate others, some build genuine relationships through hardship, some pursue their own selfish goals, but some work in part for the common good, some are broken, some indoctrinated, some naive, some genuinely good or evil and one dude just wants a decent dinner at the end of the day
rough and gritty and down to earth and risque and grotesque and very violent
Also Doom (2016)

very excited to see the level of treatment the anime is receiving

EDIT: by "down to earth", I meant the characters- it has a similar vibe to the SCP Foundation lore, where there's crazy supernatural stuff to deal with, but the people dealing with it are human, both in emotion and in how they work as organisations
