I thought this was the hl2rp thread because I saw people talking about hl2rp here I my braincells are no longer in the building
Yeah, it's not and the servers are very different so no real need for people to drag HL2 grievances to it tbh.

A choice to PK also means the police charges are murder rather than attempted, you can really fuck people over like that.

Wait so, what happens if you shoot someone and they die but they don't pk themselves. Are they charged with attempted murder or murder? Usually, if this was gmod I'd say NLR meaning that they killed someone, unless I'm missing something

If the person is caught they can be charged with assault or attempted murder. NLR doesn't apply, you don't forget if you're rescued by EMS but you do forget if you use the self-respawn button.

I did not really play in a long time, been on a hiatus since forver - but I sometimes check the forum out of nostalgia and good memories about the server.
Honestly, moving to GTA over Gmod seems like a good idea.

The ability to develop in C# over Lua is a nice thing as well imo.

Wish you best of luck, maybe I'll pop in and check what's going on someday.

Self PKs doesn’t seem good for gangs and such since moving up ranks usually relies on the people above you dying.
Not really sure how gang warfare will work as a whole with it tbh

It definitely does work for gangs.

It's not going to change, regardless of how many made up scenarios you come up with to justify your need to end someone's character.

not really since its just based on your reputation as a whole. you can have someone ranked 'higher' than you in your gangster group but if you've been in prison more than them, have more rival kills and all then it doesn't really matter in the end. it doesn't even make sense for a gang to run it's ranks like a typical hl2rp faction anyways, since that's not how it works in the real world. you're groomed into a gang from as young as like 12 years old and then your progression comes from your reputation. someone doesn't need to die for you to outgrow the respect they have in the set

no clue why hl2rp became so affixed on pks over the years. ultimately I think it's a very selfish way of handling character deaths. you're writing an application to end someones character, potentially their fun and enjoyment and they're by the rules not even allowed to know it's coming. anywhere else it would never work, but in hl2rp people have just been made accustomed to being depressed all the time.

turning over PKs to the player behind the character should lead to better stories that make more sense, and nobody complaining that their character was ended in some bullshit way

I was talking about on game servers not irl lol, like it’s almost always wait for someone to die if servers had a PK type thing or wait for someone to stop playing on those without

gotta get outta that hl2rp ultra grinder mindset
its based on irl so obviously im gonna compare it to how it is. like I said it's really just about trying to make your reputation outgrow the others, it doesn't make any sense for a gta rp gang to use typical hl2rp ranks for factions
