It was part of the STALKER prop pack we had on every iteration. Eventually it was jokingly called ‘Li-on’ because it usually stood in the Coalition / soviet base and they made Lion sound asianish.
It became a core ww3rp trend to include it on every map either in base or as easter egg on the field. For a while people even kneeled in front of it before going on patrols

dj khaled has a lion statue and he would make snapchat videos saying "li-on" and we thought it was funny so we put that text on the lion statue and it just kinda stuck
