To anyone looking to get the "best" ending in Metro 2033, I wouldn't stress about it too hard.
For one, the system dictating which ending you get is very cryptic and obtuse, so it'd require you to somewhat regularly look through a guide.
For another, the proceeding game in the series, Last Light, follows the not-best ending of 2033 - and makes the most of it, in my opinion.

If you ever find an opportunity to nab the rest of the Metro series for free or on discount, I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Last Light might have tad clunky writing (and you'll still probably need to look up a guide to get the best ending), but Exodus knocks it out of the park.

i really want to play exodus and i played the first 30 minutes or so but the voice acting feels soulless and it puts me off

I had the same issue with Metro Exodus at first. The voice acting felt a bit flat, especially compared to other games in the genre. It kind of pulled me out of the atmosphere for a bit, but after playing further, the gameplay and environment sucked me back in. I ended up just focusing more on the exploration and story details rather than the character voices. If you ever want to try something totally different between Metro sessions, there’s cool stuff like i-Sabong online. It’s wild how many options are out there now when you just want something fresh.
