Thanks for the encouragement and friendly comments! That's the kind of stuff that really keeps me going.

Speaking of, I had a chance to get out of the office for a little bit this afternoon with the Park's camera. What does that mean?

George and Geraldine are a mated pair that live in a rock outcropping just behind park housing . Over the last five years they've come to trust Rangers just enough to pause for photos. We give them water and bread from time to time, and they come around to visit us when we're at the office. Since seasonal employees (like myself) can't have pets, they've become the closest thing out here.

They know our schedules better than we do! If one of us is out sick, they'll actually waddle to our front stoop and knock on our doors with their beaks.

You should apply for Media Dev.

Simply going out and taking some pictures for events is useful as hell, and you can still sell them for money.

Win win?

It's almost 11:30 in the evening.
I've come down with the flu.
My last day at Wupatki National Monument is Friday the 24th and, due to regulations by the new administration, my seasonal position at Bandelier National Monument for the summer has been permanently cut. So, I'm out of a job in a dozen days.

Yet still...

More ravens?

I personally had a rather weird history with photography. I was first very interested when I was 14-16, then completely lost interest after I finally got my hands on a D3300 and ended up selling it back. Nowadays I would love to get back into it, although my general studying and labwork would make it really hard for me to find time and money to invest in it.

Asking a friend of mine to reupload a few of your photos on puush, they have genuinely impressed me and filled me to the top with inspiration. Unfortunately I don't really have a lot of direction to exhaust that inspiration through. And sadly I won't be able to check many of your photos, due to imgur being shamelessly blocked in my country.

If you ever need help with photoshop, texturing and general digital art, let me know. I'll be honored to help ^^

The closer I get to my last day, the more difficult it is to pick up the camera. I know I've got the chance to come back to Wupatki in October, but six months without a salary and dubious prospects for a roof over my head are frightening things to face. I've been worried so much about what I'm going to do that I haven't had a chance to really look at the world around me.

This set might not be the best quality, but I've got to keep moving forward. Skills, like steel, can rust if neglected.

I've finally made it home and set up shop at my sister's house - at least until I can figure out something for more stable living accommodations and finances. In the interim, I'll try and break out the camera a little more often. I'm a little rusty, but I figure the downtime is good enough to get back to basics.

The weather's been pretty interesting over the last week. Unfortunately, most of that interesting weather has made for terribly flat lighting. Still, my nephew's been entertaining. A couple of days ago he asked if he could "pretend drive my (relic of a) car". Heck, I couldn't resist.

Seeing @Hoovie the Apansenok's edit reminded me of something!

Two years ago, I purchased an R25A deep red filter for a reasonable deal. I had intended to use it for black and white landscapes with dark black skies, but never quite got the contrast balance to work out. After 1,200 experimental shots, I tucked it away in my pack. Maybe it might be time to break it out again, especially with the bright light today (and the fact the HL2RP server is completely full!).

In celebration of my 69,000th photograph over 9 years of taking pictures, here's a ton of random shots over the weekend. Quite a few might only be worthy of a broom and a dustpan, but hey - enjoy!
