Lets say that PUBG was fixed and went free-to-play. Would it beat Fortnite in terms of popularity?

EDIT: It seems as if some people didnt notice/understand the word "fixed". What i meant was "What if PUBG was optimized and bug fixed-". I hope you all understand now.

Fortnite is more appealing to braindead kids than pubg because of the haha dance moves, outfits and the look of the game in general so its ultimately always going to be more popular

fortnite is way different than pubg, I wouldn't go to fortnite and stop playing PUBG, and I won't go to PUBG and stop playing fortnite, they're both different experiences, really

That and mothers won't let their children play any realistically-designed game but slap cartoon graphics on GTA and waheyy it's fine.

thats a yikers
fortnite is far more polished, and fresh than pubg.
fortnite has frequent updates and an actual NEW TAKE on the battle royal franchise with building
building changes how everything works in the sense that it if you can outbuild your opponent you gain a huge advantage despite your opponent having better s2k skill.
plenty of twitch streamers have moved over to fortnite as its superior
ye sure the main reason they moved over to fortnite was due to the bigger audience, but they've said so themselves that its a better game currently
pubg is severely unpolished despite being out of early access
the devs have taken a step back from updating the game
and this is all coming from a big fan of pubg

i miss earlier fortnite

before it struck the mainstream so hard in the past two months it was really fun and simple, now the meta's formed and it's chock-full of professional-tier players sucking each other's dicks over building a big gay wall or building

50v50 should stick as a permanent mode if they want my business honestly, it works far better in a larger setting when you can collaborate on a fort and hold your own against an enemy team

yeah i loved the base building factor when it was much simpler and people weren't such tryhards

i wish it was like CS:GO; where there was a "competitive" game and then there was "casual", alongside more teamwork enhanced modes like 50vs50

tired of these tryhards ngl; feels like im playing CS:GO comp when all i wanna do is land on a building, grab a few items, and kill a few guys before dying and restarting all over again

uninstalled it by now due to this reason

most likely not because younger children will get their hands on it that way and therefore the meta of the game will change completely.

it's a smart choice really to keep it at a price, it was the same when rising storm 2 had a free weekend. you'd expect it to be an easy chance to get a load of kills on some newish people playing for a free weekend in their schedule, but it turns out that these people become unpredictable in their way of playing the game and the meta of the game changes, then it becomes a chore to play and gets boring.

yeah pretty much

I really just never wanted to hit a point where I wanted to exert tons of effort into doing anything as hard in the game but it's a lot harder when you can tell the opposition you're currently fighting it really putting the effort in

call it tryharding if you want, I just liked it when it was a little more casual and friendly, now you have tf2 emotes when just 5 months ago everyone had the same skin

just never liked where the game went, nor the meta - but the only person to really blame is myself for not putting in the same effort to keep up

just hope it's not shut-down soon, rather not see epic pull a nexon on the save the world mode and close it down like they did the ghost in the shell game

damn shame honestly

remember when you could actually name the amount of players by memory around 70% of the time, barring players who got pax codes trying it out weeks after the convention

nabbed my cousins and gave the game a go, shame it never got good enough to attract a more mainstream market

but back on topic, I do plan on buying pubg at some point after building a new pc - fortnite is a little too fast-paced after adding all the new areas in the past few months, the lack of rolling hills to travel and hide in was meh to me

pubg map much bigger but they really need to shift it to be a little faster to avoid the egregious downtime you can have between engagements

edit did the devs go cunty? I never played the game after the summer it dropped, I stopped around when it went public from what i remember

I never heard it go p2w or anything, all I remember is seeing the same players get featured over and over in the news on steam. was that it? they preferred a few people or something?

the 4x4 map is probably a good middleman for action and downtime, shame it's not off the test server yet

yeah old fortnite had fast paced action, but you had time to breath or even build up a fort to give a big fuck u to everyone

now you drop in tilted towers and hope you manage to survive the huge melee, or even hope you just land on a gun first

no point lol, if i wanted nothing but a shooter game, id just play CS:GO

PUBG requires a particle accelerator of a PC to play with good FPS due to the shitty optimization, when Fortnite can basically be run on any laptop made post 2015.

That's immediately giving the majority of players to Fortnite.

never really played the game over like 3 hours but apparently they charged back some dlc/cosmetic items and made the people repay for them despite owning them beforehand? i don't remember specifics, but i know that the devs proper jewed out.
