imma keep it real this looks kinda wack

this is the most boring footage they could have released

it literally reminded me of fighting ghouls in fallout 76, and that is not good as its one of the most tedious experiences that whole game had to offer
i mean im not that engaged with the metro franchise, just thought id post it for you guys sake
im guessing with the train though this is just one of many areas like the icy russian setting in the last trailer

still i just feel like its the complete wrong direction to take the series both artistically and story wise

metro is defined upon that, the metro

without the metro, which itself is one of the main characters of the game, what do you really have?

i mean, logically, I guess in each area you travel to on the train, there might be some kind of train station/series of tunnels before you get out into the actual world, who knows

Does follow the book 2035 so I've been open to the concept for ages.

Could probably do a spin off to follow the 2034 book, where you would take the role of Hunter following his encounter with the dark ones in 2033, it didn't kill him but certainly made him take a darker turn in his life, wouldn't mind exploring that.

Still, I'm not gonna judge the game yet until it comes out, going to play it regardless.

yeah

sticking to the source material for as long as possible is always a good idea, especially so you can explore as much of the lore as possible

im not really invested in exploring something that, as far as i've seen in that video, just looks like a graphically updated fallout new vegas except in russia

2034 > 2033
its a good book that, while i read years ago and cannot find to reread i still remember certain key scenes, mostly involving the ending

not impressed, they seem like they want to appeal to the large open world audience instead of keeping it linear in the metro tunnels, they might sacrifice some good aspects like the contained story and level design for the sake of having an open world and busy work, if it does end up that way, i don't think it'll grow on me enough for me to play far cry mad max russia edition to completion. i liked the previous metro games being linear and short but sweet stories, but maybe i'm just very wrong about it all, we'll see i suppose.

open world metro game where you can across the entire metro and engage with all the factions or just be a humble guy or something, real open world shit but I’m an interesting setting

apparently the games developers are also from stalker and they wanted a sequel to that so theres some reason why it sorta is a combination of metro and stalker. and yeah i read ppl being like 'hey they need to innovate they dont have to make the third game just like the first two' but semi open-world in the metro where u can visit random stations and shit sounds way better to me than russian sand dunes. the bear gameplay looked more promising, that's for sure

if anything it's not a 'true' open world; it just looks like a bunch of linear hubs where you can run around doing sidemissions before taking the train to the next part

sure doing X action may have Y outcome but you're still playing on the same chessboard from start to finish

oh yeah that's why i said semi open-world, it's like a few big levels or some shit

also apparently no sidemissions but dont quote me on that

"It's not just russia, it's the whole world out there."

does this mean are they actually doing what happened at the end in 2035 or is "the whole world out there" just meaning the rest of Russia outside of metro

if they are doing what happened at the end in 2035, I really hope they tone it down, at least somewhat.
both

yeah I’m pretty disappointed but given how much I liked the last two I’m willing to give it a shot tbh

definitely should’ve just stayed in the metro tho

NOT THE METRO: Exodus

After seeing the gameplay I have a few doubts, it'd be a different thing if it was confirmed to be some open world STALKER-type game but I'm pretty sure they confirmed it'd be set in "levels", and if these levels are just Mass Effect Andromeda shit tier enemy piles I'm snoozing already.

edit
anyone else feeling big wolfenstein 2 new colossus story vibes aswell with the whole "me and my pregnant wife are gonna save the world and make a big revolution" schtick, and just general feel of the trailer?

the whole point of Metro 2035 (go read it) was that knowing the truth doesn't mean you can do shit in the slightest; and in the end Artyom dips out given the whole soviet mentality thing (not trying to spoil anything: go read it)

i'm pretty sure this is going to have some of the same elements, most notably with the (already stated) aspect that while you might make A/B/C choices during the campaign not everyone is going to survive based upon what you do

feels more like STALKER: Clear sky's linear hub levels with choices determining if things go tits up because certain person #300 got eaten by a librarian or something

i really hope this doesn't turn into a shitty ubisoft-like title where its a big open world with ass for sustenance and you just go around clearing outposts

I think they said the game is very much still linear and it isn't 100% open world like that
