I feel like they're setting up Dany and Jon to die because they keep setting up Dany as arrogant and too prideful and even the writers said that Jon acts very stupidly and sticks his neck out too far

if ep2 is the siege of winterfell then what the fuck are the rest of the episodes gonna be
i think episode 2 is going to end with a cliffhanger, ep3 will be the big battle and people getting fucking rolled, 4-5 will be them trying to gather at king's landing and 6 will be a last stand

i really want them to try and find a way to tie into the deeper lore and crazy magic shit thats present in the universe

all i want is a roberts rebellion mini series
i think they already confirmed that it wont be a thing because its so deeply described in the show and in books to the point where it'd be hard for them to make original content, the long night series lets them take more liberties

I enjoy when the magic is extremely slight, because it catches the audience and the characters by surprise at the same time. Something subtle, like Jaqen turning his head and coming back looking different worked really well.

I loved shit like the House of the Undying in season 2, for example

that's brilliant example of magic done well in GoT

The magic in the show was really good when they were showing hints and bits of it without providing a full explanation or look behind the curtain as to what exactly was going on, I didn't like how they gave Bran really all the answers with the time travel shit.

I like when the magic is given its own lore and incorporated well into the history of the universe. Sometimes it feels like it's just thrown in there in a sort of cliche way:

I'm not coming at the Children of the Forest, they've got cool lore and tie right in to the universe. But looking at that little scene alone would give you a radically different impression of what the show is. It looks like dyed in the wool fantasy when the magic is too in your face.

Yeah I haven't read the books but watching the show I could instantly tell that they were struggling to cram in information on the Children of the Forest because it just feels like a lot of their background was rushed or left out

Only because they were given close to zero background before introduction. In the books they go further into the war with the first men, and the truce on the island of 1,000 faces (?) and stuff, but there's none of that here. They're just kinda there, and they fucked up their depiction so bad on introduction that they redid the way they look and talk entirely the next time they're seen.

EDIT:
It's called the Isle of Faces, my bad.
