No mods, then. Maybe one to fix the animations (Due to at times iron sights being literally misaligned) and one to make the UI become more wide-screen compatible.
Other than that, play the game through as vanilla as possible. ShoC isn't exactly too long a game, and gameplay wise I'd argue it's probably the worst out of all 3. But experience it as it was designed
Even if COC is broken, it's the only game changing mod worth trying out.
The rest mods I have played, even if ultra-realistic, are boring and frustrating every single time you get trickshotted by snorks or cheeki breekis.
My first expression was that too. Then I had a friend who was a fucking FANATIC of it basically walk me through a few things, so I started learning the main differences of the mod.
A lot of gameplay is different, and there is a whole extra layer of micromanagement on almost everything. Can't reach certain areas without proper gear, anomalies and environmental hazards are actually hazardous etc.
Imagine it as some form of a P2L roleplaying game. You'll generally never do well unless you 100% prepare. Oil your guns and keep them maintained, keep your clothing in good shape, bring some energy drinks or caffeeine in a pinch, get sleep etc. They all matter
