i myself especially dislike "character relations" and the types of bios that read like a bulletin-list of completely useless information that is only there to make it seem like the character is """"realistic""""
Yeah I'm of that mind too. Most of that information should come out organically and not be tacked up. Likewise with character relations, you run the risk of encouraging metagame. Nothing against those that still do them of course, but it isn't for me anymore.
The most work I put into one was Howell's and I never finished it in like three years anyway.
a lot of bios completely ignore the one golden rule of doing anything related to a narrative at all, to show and not tell. Backstories that are just "X was born in Y in year Z to parents blah blah fucking blah" simply dump information without striving to do anything remotely interesting
backstories are fucking annoying to write the most i do for char bios now is basic info and if necessary stuff about the past if people can know about it without being told
they are completely nonsensical and are useless in all contexts
