Defeat in combat is not an absolute, losing a fight won't just mean your character is dead, game over. It's utilized heavily into progressing character stories
While death is still an important part of it, you can get back up, play dead while people leave, and heal yourself later if you are lucky. - For those less lucky you could be robbed blind, arressted, enslaved, or eaten alive.
And it's also a critical way of improving character stats, like how much punishment they can take before going down, their proficiency to defend themselves, and also their skill at first aid as well.
Kinda put into perspective the current setup in hl2rp, and I greatly wonder if we are missing a lot of opportunities because our stance to character death is as aggressive as it is.
Kenshi puts you out cold when you get beaten up too much instead of only dropping when you die, which is what allows all of the systems it already has.
