like you know, it's... not meant to be one unique guy, you're not meant to be the hero. it's hl2rp - you're meant to be the average joe, average resistance guy.
Eh, no one is god-status. UIL has had some pretty cool ones recently, but they're well justified with the ammount of work, planning and events that lead up to them
nukes were dropped recently but if anything they've made people worse, they contributed to a lot of tension. It's part of a war ongoing with a city that was declared rogue, the first nuke was dropped as a result of a player event with rebels, where they held cab hostage and shit, and then the second was fired in retalliation
ironically it was a cab member who arranged for the rebels to be there, they entirely understimated them. I'd rather the resistance did cool shit like that than K4E tier 'me shotcop'
They do all of this, they took control of the commune for example, this isn't an end tier event for them, but it's the icing on the cake. Events like this are necessary to forge stories that they want to share and remedy the issue many people claim to have -- that no character is interesting.
no character is interesting =/ my character launched a fucking nuke and 'saved the world' and all these other instances. interesting characters are just, out of their roleplay themselves. i rp and i interact with interesting chars from how they behave.
People whined about there not being a story behind anyone, so people have tried to provide one. While it's certainly pushing the boundaries, I think there's lots of potential for it. I don't think we should discredit such revolutionary programs until there is conclusive evidence that they are negative, as their success can turn the entire server on it's head.
I can't control how rebels do shit though, if they're going to be entirely emotionless then theres not much anyone other than themselves can do. I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that many people in CAB have developed as a result, Tinbe's senator is an emotional wreck, CNS proclaimed Strindberg was a war criminal etc
I'm gonna level with you chief; Union characters have /always/ generally reacted to big-scale events and hard-hitting things much better than Rebel ones. With Rebels its much easier for such things to be pushed under the rug as "acceptable to save humanity". Extremists exist, but they're not even really played as that.
My rebel has been around for a few events, and they've changed her and she's has doubts and contemplates her choices. She doesn't make them public but that doesn't mean they're there. Just because you don't personally see the passive aftermath doesn't mean they don't happen. To be fair though, she hasn't really done anything extreme.
I'll be honest I should really rp reflecting more on the shit that's happened
