You got fast DL turned on? (Look in options under multiplayer, does it say 'allow all files'? If so, turn it off since if you have all the content installed you won't need it

Also check your addons, sometimes GMod does this when you have 400 addons enabled

ah yeah it might be the 400 addons i have enabled

is there a quick and dirty way to disable them all barring the nebulous pack?

i think unsubscribing from them all and then just resub to the neb ones

if you ever wanna have only specific addons disabled or enabled, gmod added a feature to have addon presets you can access with the little wrench icon on the addons screen. really useful for specific server content packs, just make a preset for neb and another for any other content packs

got 50 addons installed, fast DL off, it still just stops after the loading bar fills up somewhat

I have this issue too but it occurs even if I only sub to the server addons. I've found that only subbing to absolute essential models and map stuff and setting graphics to minimum works sometimes.
