i agree with this, you're going to just ask your friends or get told on discord if somebody dies anyway so you might as well respect the person who's just died - makes the experience feel a lot less empty too i'd really considering reimplementing it at some point @Blackquill

it was only obnoxious when people would start scouring the map for MURDEDRRR SCENE and shouting for said person on radio like people can't neglect to respond without being dead 0.3 seconds after someone had died because of the OOC message and you had 0 space to roleplay a bit before having to THRROW BODY IN LEECH WATER to prevent gamers from flooding

I believe our rationale for it being staff only comes from a few places. One of which is consistancy with other staff commands being staff view only. The other being that it's a lot more convenient to be able to PK people as they die, rather than having to wait in the middle of situations like sweeps for example.

Not against considering it, if people genuinely think it's worth the small reconsideration.

most of the problems would get fixed if the OOC notification for non-staff came a good while after the actual PK was inputted wouldnt it

if they'd been dead for an hour or 2 before the server gave a notice then people would know doing the whole shtick of finding the body via metagaming would be pointless

@Blackquill as far as I recall the reason it was changed was because, as @nexus said, people would INSTANTLY realise their buddy had died and they'd shift+w around the map hunting for them or rush to raid their containers and stuff.

But that was quite a long time ago now.

@Blackquill If I recall in clockwork there was two seperate commands, one to PK a person and have the message be broadcast in chat and another to PK them 'silently', that being hidden from non-staff. Something like that again could be nice, so there is the option of silently running PKs should the situation need it but also another variation that respects the chars death and gets the recognition it deserves.
