It's not unreasonable to have zero tolerance for something like racial slurs, or racist behavior in general. The 'gamer' word doesn't really do it justice - it's a derogatory term that has been used to target people for a long time, and enact atrocities that are by all means well deserving of being considered crimes against humanity.

Well typically when someone's going out of their way to try and type racist shit or make chars with racist shit, I usually just ban with the reason "racism, fuck off" so...

It has always been the case that racism results in a permaban, nothing has changed. The handling of it regarding IC chat was changed when the filter was extended to ALL chat types.

yeah i knew it was a permaban i just recall people being unbanned eventually afterwards

People shouldn't expect an easy unban for going out of their way to say racist shit on the server. That's why we're harsh on appeals in relation to that.
