No it's not. My bud got me back into WoW but I couldn't afford it, however he could buy a WoW token. Told me to go contact customer support and the gamemaster granted me 48 Hours of Game Time free of charge on my main account so I could get a character to make a trade with my friend and grab the 36.4k it costs to buy a WoW token.

I got on, went to AH where he traded me that amount and I bought the token :P

pretty easy to make money level up a prof and get some rare recipe then say ure gonna make their item, get all of their mats from them and sell them or make the item and sell on AH for money worked for me so much
