Serious conservatives reject motion to provide free school meals

    Your reminder has nothing to do with free meals for children. I'm a conservative with moderate values. Children should never be denied a meal, especially in school. Ever.

    here's a general question. if poverty is so easy to alleviate, if it's really just a function of acquiring aid and getting a job, then why are so many people poor? surely if any of these proposed solutions were effective, there wouldn't be as much poverty as there is, right?

    I'm a cop, with full time benefits, live with my parents, only pay for my car and vehicle insurance (and the internet bill), and I consider myself broke with the amount I net. Most jobs nowadays are not satisfactory for the needs of an average American, especially public sector/average jobs.

    Knowing the government, they'd turn something that should cost at most 10-20 million into a 4 billion programme for whatever reason they can come up with.
