People complain about how circlejerky rebel RP is and how hard it is to get contacts within it if you don't know people OOCly but it's pretty obvious that it's a direct side effect of request devices existing: Why trust anyone besides those you know when anyone that made a char 2 mins ago can cause a sweep and get your character killed for trying to interact with people on the surface?

    This, please.

It makes no sense that CP's and Dispatch would decide that it's a good idea to trust John 'Recent Transfer' Smith's report that there are Rebels in D4. That's like saying your going to put a Nations Security in the hands of an Ex Gregs Baker. It should be a case of the Scanner spotting Rebels or CP's seeing them themselves in D4 with their own eyes, not Citizens.

Of course, some people may see this and say "Well isn't that just removing ways we can get LP?". Well if that's the case, CP's need to stop being so fucking stingy on handing out LP to a Citizen. So what if they bought it and decided to hand it over to you or place it behind a Bin? It's still handing over contraband and ultimately taking resources away from Anti-Citizens/Resistance Forces, so why shouldn't they get rewarded for it?

im personally not arguing cps should get nlr

ive usually always been (excluding events obvs) pks for rebels, pk for cab, pks for cps/derank possibly. you can discuss cab being nlrd all you want but cab go out usually with armor, and a transhuman convoy

rebels spend yonks earning their gear etc as cab spend time applying so............... its a fair trade off they both be pkd

    >High tier loyalists can be PK'd for just entering D4
    >Rebels can be PK'd for even the slightest fuck up
    >Citizens can be PK'd for even speaking rebelliously
    >CAN can make speeches about anti-Resistance, torture rebels within their tower, have armed escorts etc but NO PK RISK

So, you're basically telling me if I hear a CAB make a single speach about anti-resistance that's PK auths?

isnt speeches just doing their 'job' along with any other activity really which they can argue

they flaunt guards around with a reason the ota are more at risk being murdered and targetted than cab

may as well scrap guards for cabs and put guards on ota lol

I was under the assumption that only the rebel causing the trouble is pk'd i.e a rebel causing sweep is pk, others are nlr'd?

Also rebels can take off their gear n go back into the city as loyalists or rebels (unless theyve been identified as a rebel obvs)
Not all cab can make speeches at will and when they do its mostly in response to something, and you wont see an advisor torture a rebel tbf you'd more see cps do that

    Or am i completly wrong?

And that's just as bad as killing someone for no reason?

The point I'm trying to make here, is that it's the same for Union Factions. All of them should not be protected/given full NLR unless they are CAB, that's not fair on people who play my faction and as for rebels who spend ages getting gear?

Some of the people in CAB have worked from a bluesuit up to the highest loyalist tier to then get CAB. That takes so long to do, sure those who apply via an app don't have to take that long yeah but what about the people who do?

PK for all Union factions for "lol combine faction" or NLR for all Union Factions for "lol combine".

As for the NLR for rebels doing nothing wrong, we've done that before and someone made a thread, cried about how it was unfair and too easy being a rebel so we changed it.

    i beg to differ tbh

one of the main things that makes rebel rp interesting is the constant risk of a pk; if there was no danger innate to being a rebel it wouldn't feel like a resistance anymore, even if that 'danger' isn't directly warranted by the person at risk. snitches etc are a cheap way to get a developed character killed but they aren't an insurmountable issue. play it smart and punish snitches as they come (i've already got plans to cut down the amount of them  ) and it becomes a threat u can deal with without a problem imo. i think people need to always remember that life i cheap in this lore - part of what i loved about HL2RP when i first played it is how easily people can die (not to forget the rebel economy would get shat on if nobody had to worry about dying to sweeps they didn't cause).

pk risk shouldn't be the thing killing rebel roleplay; i remember when the situation for rebels was the same if not worse in the past and people still did ridiculous shit, like that time @harry carved the novus logo into some CAB dyke's forehead. it's partly a mindset issue since people are just aren't as prepared to put their shit on the line like they used to be and partly an issue of incentive, given a lot of the OOC bureaucracy you need to go through to get shit done now and the fact that rebels can kill you for actively rebelling now for some (strange) reason. i never used to be a fan of 'vanguard' groups like novus that used to essentially dictate the direction rebel roleplay takes for most players, but thinking back on it now and looking at the current situation makes me realize that in the way they encouraged activity they weren't all that bad

Literally all of the above can be said for Rebels tbh. Especially "you can't say one faction gets full NLR and another gets a PK, when they are killed for pretty much the same reason." A random sweep is the CP equivalent to a shotcop, except if they die during it, they for some magical reason get full NLR and refunds. Except they just kill people for the reason "lol ur rebel".

I have no idea why we don't do this anyway, especially when they die during sweeps. If a CP dies in a sweep they should 100% lose their character. As again, it's the CP equivalent to a shotcop.

    All of this, yes.

What about scanners seeing them when they just fly into the basement every ten minutes?

I've said it time and time again, do an event where the Union's tunnel gets completely caved in and make some events for the beach.

I mean if you hear a single civvie yell "scanners" or "CP's" and that's enough for PK auths, I see absolutely no reason why not.
    (Yes, call me sore.)

Personally all factions should be on a level playing field for PK's and NLR. If Rebels can be PK'd for randomly going and shooting CP's, CP's should be able to be PK'd for randomly sweeping and shooting Rebels.

restrict cp sweeps to black tier reports/brown tier plus reports

i feel like people in this thread are forgetting that this is a dystopian society where people are killed for literally saying they dislike the circumstances they live in/walk inside of a square in plaza/have too much scrap metal on them/not want to get hands tied

and rebelling should put you at huge risk for death in this society unless you've planned out every single movement of yours to avoid detection, by both yourself and your accomplices, be it switching identities/suits pre-shotcop/rebel shit or just doing it alone

edit : @Aether dying in a "random sweep" is a derank as a CP

Being a CP is also generally a choice, as it's a voluntary force, why shouldn't they get PKed for dieing, if voluntarily rebelling gets you PKed?

Why do we speak about rebel as a separate faction, where people who are rebel could just be a part of a union faction or be a citizen/ loyalist who can walk back into the city with their stuff hidden away. At this point they're at the same risks as every other citizen or person in that faction. People chose to follow the path they want, in this case it's the Rebel one, which means you're open to and accepting the fact there are a lot of risks.

In the case of PKing people, there should always be a definite reason behind doing so. If not then. for example, bluesuits can walk out after buying a lead pipe and wack every loyalist at any tier they see for 'being combine support ecksdee' even if they haven't met said loyalist before and PK them. Nobody should have special treatment because 'oh but my char is developed also so it should be fair i was at risk too'.

As for CAB members they shouldn't have to fear a PK for literally just being a CAB taking a visit to the streets, there should be more effort behind killing characters like this.

because cp suits have 20% protection and they get moderate-tier weaponry

meanwhile rebels have near-OTA tier armor, weaponry, and such, which is why cp's respawn and they don't
