How is your activity? / How would you rate your interest in Stasiland?:

I don’t like to slap a number on activity, primarily because of how subjective it is. That being said, I have been incredibly active in recent days. Being one of the first on each day, I have been trying to encourage others to help populate the server by joining earlier. Currently, I play a minimum of three to four hours a night, however it is more at the moment. Nonetheless, I would be lying if I said I can commit time that I did in the previous iteration, merely because of a change in circumstances. Therefore, I will inform the faction lead immediately if I was to become inactive, as I understand the disruption caused by uninformed inactivity.

My interest in Stasiland is much greater than I had previously anticipated. Playing as the Stasi has been an incredibly entertaining experience and I appreciate this new concept of MilitaryRP. In absolute honesty, Stasiland is in many ways better than its predecessors, particularly in its variety in roleplay and I enjoy being part of a whitelist unique to its civilian counterpart.

Any previous infractions at the community? If so, can you explain?: N/A

    Previous WW3RP / RP experience:

In terms of experience, specifically on the WW3RP server, I was incredibly active in the Globalist faction, usually on for several hours each day. I think the highest rank I reached in the old server was Master Sergeant and I truly believe that my roleplay experience was fundamentally responsible for this. Prior to joining the old WW3RP, I was an active member of the HL2RP server on LP, as well as other servers before I joined the LP community. I think I started roleplaying in 2013 (approximately) and continued until the last year of WW3RP, though leaving before the server closed itself. In WW3RP, I had experience in several forms of roleplay. I was in four branches within the Globalist faction, as I remember. Firstly, I became a member of the Military Police branch which I found compelling because of the unique form of roleplay it offers, which no other whitelist faction offered at the time. I truly believe being a part of the MP was beneficial to developing my roleplay capabilities because of its variance in the type of roleplay one had to participate in, switching from typical roleplay to slow pace passive roleplay in an instant. After a while, though with the same character, I became part of the ARC branch which was an incredible experience and pleasure being a part of the RP that this branch offered initially, while it was a reconnaissance based branch. What was best about the two branches was that each offered completely different, unique types of roleplay, whilst also having the duties and experiences of typical infantrymen, which I was part of for a large portion of my time in the WW3RP community. I was eventually granted a drill instructor character in the globalist faction, which I thought was a great opportunity to engage with all ranks in a unique way. In all the HL2RP servers which I was a regular member of, I played both a citizen and a CP frequently. The polarities of experiences these offered were incredible, particularly because of the access it offered me to produce and develop two completely opposing types of character, both of which allowed great opportunities for roleplay. In one HL2RP community I was given the great opportunity to be a City Administrator which was fascinating because of the significance of the role and the duty of my character to engage with every single member of the server, be it a speech to every citizen, speaking to CPs or engaging with other administrators, the role of this faction was truly a spectacular element of my previous roleplay experience. Nonetheless, what I take most pride in during my membership of roleplay communities, including Nebulous, was being rewarded the duty of staff membership. In one server, I was a SA, although I was frequently an admin on other servers. However being rewarded the role as an operator on the WW3RP server was an incredible moment for me at this community because of the responsibilities that subsequently entailed my successful application to the role, including the opportunity to communicate with all members of the server, stimulate passive roleplay and help others, including fellow staff.

How familiar are you with the Soviet Union (ideology, history etc.)?:

Given that I studied the history and ideology of the Soviet Union in A-Level History, I would consider my familiarity to be sufficient. I have a large background knowledge, as we also studied Tsardom from Alexander II through to Nicholas II. Nonetheless, I try my best to improve my knowledge of this history, not just to help me with my studies, but also out of interest. Therefore, I have read several of Robert Service’s biographies, including those on Stalin, Trotsky and Lenin. I’ve also been reading his book ‘The Last of the Tsars’ which is great for background knowledge for the removal of the Tsarist regime and it’s subsequent successors. For anyone interested in researching the history of the Soviet Union, I would highly recommend Service’s works, as well as Simon Sebag Montefiore’s books as both offer factual insights which will help stimulate one’s familiarity with the Soviet Union.

That being said, I appreciate that anyone’s knowledge can always be furthered. I think that there are several threads on the forums which are beneficial to improve one’s familiarity with the Soviet Union. Poopship’s ‘Stasiland Guide to Character and Faction Creation with Background History’ is just one example of a post that is highly useful and informative which helped familiarise me with the required background of the Soviet Union and its core ideology.

Are you aware of the new concept? What are some of the differences between this iteration of WW3RP and the old one?:

Primarily, the significance of S2K has fundamentally been substituted for the importance of true roleplay, including the prominence of passive roleplay instead of constant patrolling and essentially, CS:GO with roleplay. Military RP is more meaningful, with greater purpose and crucially a lot more immersion in a considerably more realistic type of military roleplay, whilst offering glimpses of the type of roleplay we all experienced in the original version. I’ve read through important posts on the forum with regards to the concept of the new server before I joined, including the rudimental aspects of the new lore. There is of course a colossal difference between this version and the previous one, and I think this is a great opportunity to promote roleplay as a means of enjoying WW3RP, not just relying on S2K and constant patrolling, with little purpose, for enjoyment. Of course, with the temporary changes, Stasiland has adjusted judiciously to appeal to as many people as possible, offering both amble MilitaryRP as well as it’s civilian counterpart. Although these changes are supposedly only temporary, it does have a greater resemblance to its predecessor.

What do you think this faction will be doing on the server?:

The primary duty of the Soviet Union faction is of course to maintain order where the Stasi faction is inadequate for it. When true military strength is required, the faction is used for counter-insurgency operations against those whom pose a threat to others. That being said, I see my application to this faction as a long-term investment as I believe that the role of the faction will continuously develop over time, crafting a faction with several responsibilities and allowing each member to have different experiences every day. Consequently, another aspect of the faction is monitoring the Stasi, ensuring it is performing sufficiently and supporting the faction accordingly.

With the temporary changes, the Soviet Union has become the main form of order outside of the city. Supported by its German counterparts, the NVA, the faction patrols the outside of the city, ensuring no ‘counter-revolutionary activity’ is occurring. Of course, the primary IC duty of the faction is re-taking the city of Frankfurt, but this is ultimately controlled by OOC conditions.

The faction is crucially expected to engage with all types of people on the server. The Soviet faction is expected to engage with its own, of course, as well as its German comrades, be it via patrolling or internal, passive roleplay. However, what many may forget is that the faction has a responsibility to interact with civilians, including unarmed civilians as well as insurgents. Both passiveRP and S2K is a fundamental aspect of the faction. One example of how the Soviets interact with civilians via passive RP is by helping Stasi reward loyal civilians, which should be encouraged more on the server.

OOCly, the faction is supposed to set an example. The Soviets has and will continue to be a faction that has escaped its past of memery and toxicity, in the form of the Coalition in the previous iteration. This faction will be a fundamental part of the server and will be relied upon to maintain adequate internal activity as a means to stimulate the playerbase of the entirety of the server. Crucially, the Soviets are expected to champion roleplay and will remain a roleplay orientated faction.

    Entry 12, June 4th 1992

After two years fighting in the Benelux, I will be repositioned to Frankfurt, a city riddled with counter-revolutionary activity and barbaric insurgency. The fight in Belgium and the Netherlands has been arduous. The counter attack of the NATO forces has been dealt with, at the cost of loved ones and fallen comrades. Though I am deep down hesitant to fight insurgency in Frankfurt, I have an order that I will oblige with out question or reluctance, at least in the eyes of my comrades. Fighting the barbarians of West Germany is something I fear. It is an absolutely juxtaposing form of warfare that will no doubt be crippled, this is inevitable, but at the expense of Soviet brothers and sisters. Nonetheless, I am confident that being transferred to Germany will display my competency in warfare and leadership, more so than I have had the opportunity in Belgium.

The fight in Germany will be a long one but Germany must be unified once more. As soldiers of the Soviet Union, we have an obligation to provide the true German people salvation, protecting them from the deep depths of brutish, merciless and non-communal capitalism. Too many people have been taken from their German brothers and sisters, ripped from their families and loved ones by the sheer toxicity of Western Capitalism.

My redeployment is an opportunity to help comrades that need it most. I have a duty to support my Russian and German brothers alike, and bring unity and socialism to all in Germany, because everyone deserves it.

    Letter to Viktor, Father:

    Privet papa,

I wanted to inform you and mother that I will be transferred to Germany in the coming days, specifically Frankfurt. My superiors have seen fit that my duties are required there to help liquidate the rising threat of counter revolutionary and the imminent danger that insurgency poses to our German brothers and sisters.

My work aside, I hope you, mother and Ekaterina are all well. Like yourself, I grief at the loss of Nikolai every day. Though he fell before the merciless NATO forces, I know for certain his death has saved hundreds of fellow comrades, and civilians. His death will never be justified, nor accepted, but I am confident that it will at least soften the pain that it has caused you by acknowledging his death was for the right cause. He died so others can enjoy the reality of true socialism. Not just Russians but all of Europe. He will be remembered by his comrades as a martyr.

Though I must confess that I was, to a degree, apprehensive at my redeployment, I am excited to see Frankfurt. From what I have heard, it has been a city riddled with unfortunate events but hopefully things will change. I’m most excited to meet new comrades, people that I will trust with my life and brothers and sisters that will depend on me for their own lives. Frankfurt needs our help, and I’m just one of those that have been sent to deliver peace, harmony and socialism.

With your guidance and the love of my sister and mother, I will make it through this war, no matter how long it may last. I'm willing to fight until the end to deliver peace, father, but I'm sure that this war will be over soon. Insurgents can only hold on for so long, and the might of the Soviet Union, linked arms with the German Democratic Republic, will deliver harmony and socialism for everyone. I miss all of you, and I cannot wish you better health more than I already am doing. I look forward to hunting and fishing with you once more.

    Stay safe everyone,

    Aleksei

    Lieutenant Makorov’s recommendation of Valeryevich:

Comrade Valeryevich has indicated an exceptional competency in his duties as an enlisted soldier. He has shown leadership capabilities and flourished with his NCO training. His unquestionable discipline is noteworthy, and I believe this man is capable of the position of an NCO in Frankfurt. He is sufficient in his communicative capabilities, but I would encourage Comrade Valeryevich to develop more relationships further as a means of developing trust. Judicious in his decision-making, Valeryevich also shows adequate respect for all of his comrades. I sincerely wish Valeryevich all the best in the military, for he deserves everything he is granted.

OOC: I understand if Junior Sergeant is not possible, but that is what I decided to apply for after thinking about it for a while.
