im pretty bad at it, here's what i did in the last hour
for ww3rp and my upcoming character

i tried using different effects, some turned out well. atleast I think.
I would appreciate criticism, and a reminder if I did something wrong.

Not bad for a starter, just keep learning and progressing onto more complex poses until you feel comfortable with it. And you know there’s an image tool in text options so you can actually display the image?

Think of it as a movie shot

Experiment with three-point lighting and composition for a better look
Don't hesitate to pull the camera closer

This one, above, is a good start
You got good lighting, the scene feels lively and interesting
There's a bit of empty space (on the left side, behind the soldier on his knee), and the machete isn't visible enough
But the right side doesn't feel empty, because it's brighter and there's important details (the blood stains)

The key to get better is to keep on practicing, often and regularly!
The best Gmod/SFM posers started where you are now
Keep it up!

this one is very good

i agree that composition and camerawork is your weakest area, but by no means is it bad

even experienced posers have trouble knowing where to put the camera in certain scenes, especially if the map/props makes it difficult to put it anywhere without it getting blocked

keep practising, i'm excited to see what kind of stuff you make
