I miss the progress I made on my characters back in CW. I feel like my current characters have gone stale and stopped progressing.
I will say one big thing I think Helix provided a lot of the newer players was a chance to make their mark on the server and by extension the community as a whole. By the time a lot of newer people played things are already set in stone, the top dogs are already established and all that with clockwork. I'm not saying newer people didn't have impact in Clockwork but a lot of the big names and memorable characters you see talked about, adored or loathed were from people who had played the server since its inception. I know I saw a lot of new faces when Helix came around at least, which is great - I've met a lot of amazing people when both frameworks were around and it brings me so much joy to see some that have stuck with us for the entire haul of four years or nearly four years for some.
clockwork was when i cemented many of the friendships that i have to this day. clockwork was when i started to really get into things like writing and character development. clockwork was when i made great, cherished memories with people i care about. do i miss clockwork itself? not really. do i miss the fun times that i had? absolutely.
lets be real if we ever go back to clockwork, which is highly unlikely, it won't be the same as it was years ago the friends, the fun, the memories won't be the same and as much as i want those times back, i can't deny that helix is healthier for the community in terms of both mangement and creativity alike
My only issue with Helix is just how floaty and casual it feels. CW had grime and it gave me a semi beta aesthetic which I like. but everything besides some parts of rebelrp back then was pretty shit. I missed everyone basically setting up a community rather than like 4 to 5 groups all in their own corners of the map never interacting. People would work at the dawn greenhouse and then talk to the Rangers at the station and then the traders would be down the road and talking to folk. It was definitely the sense of community I miss about cws rebelrp but other than that yea cw wasnt all that good.
that's the one I can't really pinpoint if it was deliverance that made rebel RP so good back then but people were a lot more resilient about taking Ls in those days. if someone shotcopped that person got hunted or outcast by the rebels to try and discourage it and avoid trouble
it was one of the best rebelrp hubs that we had until now nothing really gets close to how people assembled in there knowing they'll find other rebels, traders and the like
From a perspective of someone who played on LP, and then for a bit on CW (but nowhere near as much as others here have), I have to say.. the community today feels way more mature and more friendly, too. And it's amazing to see what kind of things you can now do and organize (and what others will accept) with the help of the forums, some applications, and the more relaxed setting. Also, the lore now feels more cool and "realistic".
that and it stopped people doing this tribal stuff where each faction hides among themselves i know from being in one that groups tended to have their hideouts in secret bases, but deliverance was always the main hangout. everyone generally got along and supported eachother, twas a lot less toxic an environment for rebelRP
