smash ultimate was actually really disappointing

It could have all the characters in the world, but shit mechanics makes a shit game.
Nintendo is capable of great games Melee, Double Dash, and even Splatoon shows that when a game developer creates interesting and meaningful mechanics in a game people will cherish and be passionate about it.
Unfortunately, Nintendo cannot make great competitive games not because they lack the means to do so; they are incapable of making great competitive games because of their casual mindset.
Their incessant need to reward bad players with catch-up mechanics or removing options in fear that better players will make use of them to significantly outplay worse/newer players only creates slow and boring gameplay.
At least Nintendo actually releases fully completed games without paywall and dlc to make "rewarding and meaningful progress".
