hey. this isn't really a ~proper~ thread but here's something i've been thinking about lately. if you've been on twitter in the past several months you've probably encountered the weird phenomenon of big media companies (including the ones such as CNN and MSNBC) doing weird, erratic campaigns in support of insect-based food. this seemed weird, but it got extra odd once it was discovered that tens of thousands of twitter bots were all created around March this year with the sole purpose of expressing support for the concept.

    well, and then this happened.

    your thoughts?

It makes sense why food shortages would be logical to expect in the future but I also know we have year round indoor green houses across the globe that we will always have a sustainable supply of food with possible extra surplus. (Considering the population levels out eventually)

Hope we can get things sorted out quick.

bruh its already on its way here
prices of all vegetables and fruits here have been rising like crazy despite harvests being the same, because the supply is running out despite that

opposite here, i get shit like 3kg peaches for 1$

bigger companies always bump the prices on the stock that's in demand while smaller businesses tend to keep them low, and most of the time the product from these smaller businesses is x10 times better, both in quality and in pricing

i don't deny that there may be a food shortage, even though I find it less likely to happen without there being some global catastrophe behind it

I swear to god if we have a shortage of Pasta, olives, and mozzarella I will fucking go berserk, my Italian blood requires weekly doses of it!!!

Also I don’t care what I eat as long as it taste good, and it doesen’t kill me. (And it’s healthy)

For now it sounds like a conspiracy theory considering how many 1st world country waste so much food, but then you have countries like India so it’s not impossible

We produce enough food but too much is thrown out before it can be used or just wasted

Most rich people will keep eating their filet mignons while everyone else will be forced to eat something else. We will have to stop wasting so much food, we still remember what happened with the Tortilla Riots and how unstable a population can be when it has no food (or if it is incredibly expensive).
