Game crashes on materials/ixhelix/hl2rp/logo.png

I recently got a new laptop and was setting everything up on it, I downloaded all the games needed, made sure they were enabled in the bottom left on gmod, downloaded all the server content and ensured that I closed the game to properly load all the addons.

I then tried to join the server, and got stuck on this page

at which point it crashed. Tried again, same issue, not budging.

I then tried turning off downloading custom files from the server and just map files. Then it started loading very slowly into the server and crashed anyway.
I then tried starting it in Chromium, didn't work, with both custom files and just map files.

I also updated all my drivers and did a system wide check for out of date drivers, no issues there.

Also reinstalled gmod, didn't do anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fixed the issue, after many re-installs, a lot of patience and testing.

Basically I think it was the fact that it was the first time loading the server, my background applications didn't help with the first time load of the server on this pc so the pc just gave up. After re-starting my PC, running through a windows update, and waiting a long time to get past the logo I got in, after that I could connect as normal.
