Gmod "server" folder empty

I was trying to clean some space in my SSD and decided to go check the server folder in my Gmod folder but for some reason it is empty, I have tried to join a random server and then check if it updates with the content I downloaded but so far it is still empty, the files are being placed somewhere else and it keeps chipping away at my free space, has it happened to anyone else?

Stuff you download from a server are in your Downloads folder at GarrysMod>garrysmod>download

The downloads from the server are now going into a different folder that is out of GMod's folder, it should be somewhere in steamapps, although I am not sure where exactly.
