    What if you were to put the sun sort of behind the Citadel, and it would cast a large shadow on the map? Also, make sure to add some bloom, it did really nice effect to HL2 Coast maps (Without it, they sucked.)

    the fellas who talk to slugs are hardly gonna be congregating in the local nexus though eh

    fair enough but at least make the slug-tier cab area ic'ly part of the citadel rather than the nexus

    I think what Nebulous would require of an HL2RP map to function properly is by default a bastardization of what T6 was trying to achieve (don't take that as an insult, Sym's vision and Neb are just two different animals), but as far as adapting the map to Neb's needs you're doing good. All the areas and snippets you've shown look really well done.

    Hella late to this conversation but RE:

    Blending in IS the safe zone. Make citizen RP and anonymity among crowds of denim jumpsuits the the space where rebels can escape to in order to evade capture, and give citizen spaces the tools and environment to support resistance within.

    The moment you distinguish rebels and citizens from eachother as two different entities rather than one you end up creating much bigger problems for your dynamic.

    That said that's not something you can really U-turn into, it's something you have to establish from the get-go in order to not do exactly as Rabid described where people just won't play.

    i don't understand why you would play as a rebel if you don't want there to be a risk factor. isn't that kinda, you know, the whole point of being a rebel

    if you want to play someone who is actively breaking the law, i don't see how you'd realistically have the time in your day to do absolutely bugger all. if you want to do passive roleplay every time you flag on, don't play a fucking terrorist( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)?

    i think all "safezones" can really do is lessen the amount of roleplay people get and alas, i don't think i'd advocate it. don't get me wrong, this is coming from someone who hasn't even been on the server in months, but that comes down to the very thing i'm talking about - no excitement, no energy from the roleplay i had, this being in the rebel section(s) of the map. give rebels a big fuck-off portion of the map and they'll do fuck all with it. danger and discomfort provides roleplay, friends.

    Because, I'll be honest, some people just want to sit and passive as a refugee or rebel.

    I don't blame them for that. It is an avenue of roleplay after all - it only became an issue on CW because there was literally no reason to do anything else and everyone was self-sufficient.

    there are certain types of roleplay that just can’t be done in certain settings. you can’t be cab in the outlands; you can’t be a refugee in the city.

    imo, it is better to focus on and actively bolster two or three factions/groups rather than trying to cram everyone into the same space

    Honestly I would love to see an HL2RP iteration start off right off the bat with a harsh stance on rebels and their ability to rebel in order to see what kind of innovation rebel roleplayers could produce to counteract that sense of overbearing security.

    If people want to roleplay as rebels/refugees passiving that's fine but that shouldn't be the main catered-to dynamic.
