Previous experience with Vortigaunt factions: I have been a Vortigaunt on Reunited Gaming.

Have you read the Vortigaunt Guide? Yes.

Character Name: Nah'Voka. A name that proves impossible to pronounce for most humans, so they tend to call them vorty or vort.

What kind of character do you plan on portraying? How do their traits distinguish them from the rest of their species?: I plan on portraying Nah'Voka as a warrior/guardian type. They are stronger than other Vortigaunts and decently skilled at catching and hunting down different Xen creatures with a large variety of tactics that they can employ such as using certain traps or mimicking the sounds of other animals, but they're not as skilled at cooking them as their kin would usually be. Nah'Voka is not an isolationist but they have had an insanely tiny amount of interaction with humans. Because of this, Nah'Voka is not very well-versed in human culture and thus has a significantly harder time connecting with them and speaking English.

Brief Backstory: As the sound of a portal opening rang out across the hallways of the Black Mesa facility a shackled Vortigaunt fell to the floor and began their hunt for the remaining scientists left in the building. They were a skilled hunter and had hunted many a houndeye, bullsquid, and headcrab in their short time in Xen where they outshined their other kin.

The Vortigaunt found no signs of life inside so they trudged onward. As they searched the wasteland of dead creatures and humans on the surface they felt a strange feeling. The Vortigaunt stumbled around and became dizzy as they began to hear the voices of their kin exclaiming over each other through the flux. Once the voices had gone, the Vortigaunt realized that they could no longer hear the commands of the Nihilanth, and they also recalled a name... Nah'Voka.

Nah'Voka, now free from the grasp of the Nihilanth fled into the expanding deserts of New Mexico. After what felt like hours of wandering and attempting to reunite with their kin, Nah'Voka felt a great heat emanating from behind them, they glanced back and shielded their eyes as a grand explosion covered the facility they were once sent to.

Fortunately, Nah'Voka was able to reunite with their kin in Pueblo, Colorado where they traveled North in hopes of reaching other tribes. Nah'Voka's tribe had seen the terror that the Combine began to ensue after the Black Mesa incident, and thankfully the group had been able to avoid being spotted by using Nah'Voka's amateurish tactics of concealment. Eventually, the tribe traveled so far North that they reached Canada where they heard flux signals from some kinsmen in Alaska. Unfortunately, once the tribe had reached Alaska all they found was the Combine outpost that wiped out their other kin. Nah'Voka was just able to escape the ensuing transhuman slaughter that wrecked their small tribe by sprinting and hiding amongst the wilderness, something that they had done out of some cowardly instinct.

Continuing to follow the faintest of flux signals, Nah'Voka traveled across the Bering Sea via boat. Once in Eurasia, Nah'Voka could no longer hear his kin, so they soon lost all hope of finding more of their people. They resorted to becoming a nomad that traveled across Siberia and parts of China where they used makeshift spears and their Vortal abilities to feed and keep themselves clear of danger. During this time Nah'Voka was able to hone their skills as they waited in trees for passing elk, hid among bushes to pounce on leopards, or ambushed brown bears with ferociously quick stabs and strikes. Because of their constant training, Nah'Voka had grown stronger and had discovered the idea of traps and mimicking the sounds of the animals that they searched for. Years or maybe decades of isolation passed and Nah'Voka got sick of their lifestyle and loneliness.

One fateful day Nah'Voka received a distant flux shift, and so they traveled West toward the signal and found the Combine-empty town of Bucharest and other Vortigaunts. Nah'Voka was thrilled as their years of melancholic wandering had ended. They were initially skeptical of the human groups, but they chose to let them be as they posed no threat to them and their other kinsmen.

Despite their newfound safety, Nah'Voka remains clingy to their other kinsmen and does their best to defend them from harm whether they need help or not.

What kind of group(s) are you planning to work with (if any)?: I will mostly stick with other Vortigaunts, and maybe assist any other human groups like Atlas or the National Guard if they desperately need my assistance.

Do you intend to request a power specific to your character? If so, specify (Keep in mind you cannot use this in S2K situations): Not sure if these are "powers" but the ability to mimic the sound of Xen and Earth animals that Nah'Voka has encountered before and a slightly enhanced strength.
