Why do people expect the US to pay for healthcare, foodstamps, welfare, etc. for immigrants when we already have nearly 40 million in poverty?
got banned from twitter for pointing out to somebody that people from europe weren't just 'white' but comprised of many different ethnicities, races, religions. this was true throughout America's history, even before the statue. apparently, all white people are just 'white people' fucking momod
If you read the article that has been both quoted and linked, you will realize it does indeed talk about the controversial new immigration laws
Ah, I assumed you were speaking of illegal immigrants and not legal immigrants. Though it’s funny that you only care about people in poverty when you can displace already disenfranchised minorities, similar to how conservatives only care about mental health when their guns are supposedly at risk of being taken away. That’s a dumb reason for a ban, but let’s be honest with ourselves: The people placing this immigration laws don’t care about the white migrants.
whole point of the American government is to provide safety and care for corporations as far as I can see and not the people
kinda dumb yes give us your tired, your poor... if they can do it all themselves... we are so noble...
Great, maybe Mexico can start following these guidelines so the US doesn't have to do it for them The fact is the United States cannot provide for each and every impoverished immigrant that arrives here. As you are evidently aware, there are plenty of other problems that need to be solved before we inherit even more countries' problems
Escaping the problem doesn’t bring the problem. Unless by problem you mean spooky brown people...........
why revise a 140 year old monument they say it's not to target anyone, but why else would you revise a historical monument it doesn't make any sense
that's exactly what they're doing by trying to build a wall and boot out illegal immigrants who, if they commit crimes, should not have been in the country in the first place. why anybody believes one should sacrifice the well-being of fellow citizens for strangers, I will never understand. guess i need to huff paint more often, then maybe the reason will come to me.
i thought this was an onion article "will not become a public charge" reads like a fucking joke. not only does it ruin the flow of the poem it also looks like a parody
statue of liberty was a gift from the french, so yes,it's a historical monument, but the poem was added later, and it's pretty retarded that we're arguing about a poem and how policy applies to a poem. nobody cares what a god damn poem says, I don't debunk the chinese government via sun tzu's haikus. i doubt anybody is going to go to NYC and go edit the poem, like, i doubt that's happening.
