Playable animal characters?

Recently I wrote an article on roleplay animals out of the stories I've come across, but felt the subject could be expanded. Does anyone have funny or interesting stories about animals that were roleplayed on Gmod? What kind of Xenian creatures have been played in HL2RP, and were they a gimmick, or did they serve a larger gameplay purpose?

while not HL2RP, WW3RP Stasiland had some funky ass dog interactions

especially when i accidentally rammed one into a wall 5 seconds into spawning by accident with the new firetruck

and the latest WW3RP had some... interesting dogs.

honestly, I just /me that there’s an animal if my character has a pet/companion cuz having a whole player take on the role of an animal feels both unnecessary and a waste of that player’s time in most(*) cases

this isn’t to say that I haven’t fucked around and pretended to rp a cockroach who would hit a bind that would do “say /me is stepped on; kill” whenever i bumped into someone else’s collision hitbox for shits and giggles, but I suppose I’m just kind of dubious over animal characters because ive genuinely seen people who become so enamored in their bird/dog/horse character that it becomes their main character they play & it causes a bunch of issues with them inserting their animal character in unneeded situations or behaving atypical to an animal’s behavior because they now have a significant investment into this character beyond just being animal ambience.

i think i committed perfidy, like twice, watched the wagnerites of the iteration absolutely execute some poor sod, and almost murdered k4e. i also aided and abetted... to a few crimes
