Can i copy and paste my previous post 'ere?
[doublepost=1525214864][/doublepost]oh shit did i just tag you both again
[doublepost=1525215072][/doublepost]1. Don't use in-game editing like SDOF or filters, not only will it help with your photoshop/gimp skills they also usually look like shit
2. Use the poster command in console (poster 2/3/4/5 whatever number you like) instead of the camera tool screenshot because its saves quality, you need to convert to jpeg as well to not kill everyones internet. I wouldn't reccomend this if you're super shit because it'll probably confuse you
no offence
3. Pick up SFM! Not only does it have many benefits gmod doesn't have its also pretty easy to learn and doesn't have to replace Gmod, I use both but mostly SFM nowadays.
however it is also fucking infested with porn, Sonic, FNAF and TF2 cunts with their stupid OCs and fetish art so take your pick.
4. Don't just search workshop for models, search around on garrysmod.org and Facepunch. I've got about 300gb of various shit so if you ever want a certain model but can't seem to find it, feel free to message me here or on steam i really don't mind.
5. Look at other pictures. Look at them. Look back at your lighting. Is there anything you're doing obviously wrong?
6. Try to scenebuild and light scenes without using a map and only using props. If you do this DON'T DO IT ON FUCKING FLATGRASS, USE GM_BLACK_V3
7.
Look up reference poses online, try not to use stock photos, most of the time they're wrong and stupid.
8. Your mom gay

Practice and experimentation are what will help you achieve your goals.

Have a main focus and remember that too much is bad and too little is bad. Find a way to bring a focus that is appealing to the eyes which involves lighting, quality, possibly dof. Another important thing is camera angles and zooming, depending on what you are going for make sure it keeps the important things there. While not forced the rule of thirds is a nice little thing that works in most scenarios. Just experiment and like Cavity said: practice. Cavity literally got me where I am today.

You've seem to have been taught most of the basics here so I don't really know what to put forward aside from some helpful links

Scene Build Mega Pack(s)
These packs have a metric shit tonne of props and scene building material, a big download though.

Gmad Easy Extractor
Should you decide to want to use SFM, you can port things from the Gmod workshop using a program called GMAD. There's a tonne of tutorials online, it's not too hard to wrap your head around.

Gmod Shadows
I find that the shadows in Gmod are always pretty bad, nevermind your graphics settings. Just use these console commands to make them a bit more crisp (I don't think order of entry matters).
Code:
r_projectedtexture_filter 0.2
r_flashlightdepthres 4096
mat_depthbias_shadowmap 0.00001
mat_slopescaledepthbias_shadowmap 2

There's also a plethora of addons to help with posing on the Gmod workshop, I don't know the best ones though as I primarily use SFM.
As they had said before, practice and experiment - but I think the MOST important thing to have before making art is some inspiration, otherwise anything you make could be meaningless. Just my opinion, anyways.

Good luck, hope to see you on the Art of the Week thread soon :^).

The only few times I posed something in Gmod, was when we were doing these wacky ERP sessions back in the day, so I'm not a good teacher in terms of Gmod posing
