Serious Possible water damage?

Right, so I knew salad would doom me one day. For christmas my boyfriend got me a Steelseries Arctis 7 and today I decided would be the day I bought a salad on the way to Uni and I get into uni to find the fucking salad leaked into my bag and it might have gotten into the wireless transmitter for the headset and while the headset itself seems fine the transmitter keeps cutting off like it's being disconnected. Currently I've got the USB end of the transmitter wrapped around by one of those silica sachets that came with the headset, but I'm kinda panicking as I don't really wanna tell my boyfriend I already broke the fucking headset, so uh... Yeah. Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated around about now.

can you put it in rice? dismantle any parts of it and use rice to soak damage?
