Fairly new bought unused, 1TB.

Not for disabling, but check your quarantine

I only use windows defender, how would i check quarantine?


and for anyone who wants to know my hardware (i found that it could be an issue online but i doubt it..)

Yes i have.

I can't see anything in Defender since I'm not using it right now but http://www.thewindowsclub.com/manage-quarantined-exclusions-windows-defender-security-center might help with that

I have checked my quarantine and found nothing

9 hours since ive discovered the issue, ive now sent in a steam support request, despite them being barely any help in past experiences with issues.

Delete all of the garrys mod folder, and re install it. If that doesnt work uninstall steam and delete everything in your steam folder so you can start from scratch

I just posted a discussion about it in the gmod community and someone responded to me with the same thing someone in that discussion said with "Also it opporates under many .exe names, like dataup.exe, cpx.exe, svcvmx.exe, szpsrv.exe, splsrv.exe, qdcomsvc.exe, ct.exe, and vmxclient.exe, if you have any of these you have the virus" so i checked my taskmanager for running .exe's and found i have over half of them....

Yea, 3 different locations.

yes you probably got a trojan or something
try to install malwarebytes and scan your computer, it should do the trick

i tried installing malwarebytes but i kept getting a cannot connect to service error, while trying to fix this i came across "r killer" which is a miracle program that managed to fully terminate the viruses from my registry and stop them in task manager giving me time to delete their folders, and i have never been happier to see "steam has finished downloading garry's mod" in the bottom right.
