Supreme Court to Decide Whether Landmark Civil Rights Law Applies to Gay and Transgender Workers
    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/22/us/politics/supreme-court-gay-transgender-employees.html
One topic of discussion the article had was about the firing of a transgender employee because she, well, was transgender.
Why do I point this out? Because it's also approached in another article:
Trump Administration Asks Supreme Court to Permit Employment Discrimination Against Transgender Workers
    https://time.com/5654844/title-vii-trump-transgender-department-of-justice-supreme-court/
If I looked for a source correctly, here's the Civil Rights Act from 1964.
It's a pretty lenghty piece, so to get to the gist of it, Ctrl+f "DISCRIMINATION BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN" and you'll find it. I'll take an excerpt of the first paragraph:

    i mean there isnt one

the problem by law, is that until very recently they didn't really exist and thus their rights were not considered

Trans people have existed for a long, long time- even before Stonewall. Just not in the eyes of the public or the law. It was certainly far from mainstream, too.

I don't think you can pass off "decades of active bigotry" as "oops we forgot/didnt know they existed"

if that were the case there wouldn't have been a surge of progressiveism in LGBT+ rights in the 50s that got flipped and turned into outright persecution in the US

Most people in the US are employed at will (i.e. can be fired for no reason at all) so no matter the decision, I can’t see this changing a whole lot

If you want job security, you can’t rely on some Supreme Court decision but your own investigation into which companies and employers offer the best history of job security

"actually, it's okay if it's legal to fire workers for what they were born as, because all workers should be treated as disposable cattle regardless!" is not a good argument

    Merged:
the absolute state of walmart and its reputation is scarily representative of america as a whole right now lmao

why don't you just come out and say that you're a bigoted nonce instead of beating around the bush

maybe jumping to the bigoted conclusion is a bit of a leap right off the bat even if the argument is kinda fundamentally flawed

i mean maybe i’m completely wrong mostly cause i dunno the guy but i do gotta day “inflammatory” doesn’t seem the right path to go down here — even if i do agree with pretty much every other point you’ve made thus far this might be a bit apprehensive

I've seen a fair amount of Pootis Mann's current affairs contributions to make a pretty accurate guess @OneClassyBanana
