    Based on poses by LEWIS

    Original concept by CNS

The PIPELINE is a global network of natural gas lines owned and maintained by the Universal Union. It is the final destination for both prospective workers seeking fortune and criminals sent to work for repentance.

Working on the PIPELINE is a precarious task marked by danger with volunteers and punitive workers alike often falling victim to hostile aliens and deadly accidents.

In the present day, seven workers and three conscript guards depart for the TIJUANA MAIN, a massive control center located in Mexico. Punitive, prospective or somewhere in between, they march on to tend to the most dangerous mechanical beast of the modern world: The PIPELINE.

    Ten citizens, old or new.
    Three guards, seven workers.

    Character name and role:
    Brief backstory:
What does your character believe in?
Does your character believe in vengeance?
Why is your character on the Pipeline?

By applying, you understand and agree to the following:
    • All conflict will be S2RP unless stated otherwise.
    • All deaths will result in PKs.
    • Unserious or inappropriate behavior will result in ejection from the event.

    NOV. 10, 6PM BST

Special thanks to Lewis for the poster

Character name and role: Gavin Morgan - Worker
Brief backstory: Gavin Morgan grew up in New Austin as an orphan, turned into questionable vigilante. He often killed drug dealers and other members of the underworld. A wicked sense of honor drove him. A sense of greed assisted in these murders.

Gavin used to run with a gang for a brief time but decided to grow out of it. He was in the process of getting his life back together, but then the seven hour war hit.

Gavin is now planning on starting a junk racket.

What does your character believe in?
"It's an eye for an eye these days, considering the world has gone blind already." Gavin despises criminals and loves money. He knows that revenge is a fool's game, but he loves partaking.

Does your character believe in vengeance?
    Yeah. He revels in it.
Why is your character on the Pipeline?
Gavin needs the pay. The CWU wouldn't have him. He's too dense for the UM and the USE only wanted him as an actor if he was willing to strip.

Character name and role: Angelo Romano (Worker)

    Brief backstory:

Angelo grew up in Italy with a passion for food and family, being that it was all he was surrounded by before the combine invasion. Pre-union life was simple, he was groomed. After the war he was transferred from city to city, staying somewhat loyal to the union but with questionable ethics. He often found his ties with potentially criminal organizations.

What does your character believe in?

Family. He has always been with it in some form and will fight to maintain it.

Does your character believe in vengeance?

If something hits close enough to home, yes. He's a bit of a passionate guy.

Why is your character on the Pipeline?

Angelo's mostly in it for the experience. Payment's always a plus, but he's getting bored of the normal grind and wants something... different.

Character name and role: Yuri Degtyarev, Worker
    Brief backstory:
Yuri was born into a middle-class family in Dnipropretrovsk, living a mostly uneventful life. He had parents that spoiled him a fair lot, but he still had a realistic outlook on life, he knew that after a while this would obviously end. He didn't have many hobbies, but eventually picked up working on computers after turning 14 years old. This did not work, and 3 years later he enlisted in the military. He got to the rank of Second Sergeant, before eventually the Union invaded liberated earth, forcing him to become a simple cog in the machine.
What does your character believe in?
The people he knows, his remaining family, and the hope that the Union will at last leave.
Does your character believe in vengeance?
Vengeance is something that lets Yuri escape from being just a simple cog in the machine, but he tries to keep it away from his everyday life.
Why is your character on the Pipeline?
    Experience. Work. Pride. Money.

Character name and role: Jacob Akselsen - Worker
Brief backstory: Jacob Akselsen was born in a small town in Norway. He would live here most of his early life up to the combine invasion. He would attend a school like everyone else. One of his hobbies was playing soccer, and he had hopes of becoming a professional soccer player. Though, he would never succeed in his dream. He did fairly well in school, graduating and landing a job as a receptionist. Jacob would survive the upcoming Combine invasion and its aftermath, becoming a working-class citizen under the Universal Union. He now lives in a small apartment in City 17, the so-called safest place on earth.
What does your character believe in?
Jacob is a man of character and class. He believes in no one but himself and only cares for himself and his closes friends.
Does your character believe in vengeance?
Even though part of Jacob thinks murder is wrong, and that vengeance should be considered a fool's game. But he still respects people participating in acts of vengeance.
Why is your character on the Pipeline?
Jacob seeks duty and purpose. He wants the job and the payment, and he wants it now.

Character name and role: Foreman Harald Northug, Worker
Brief backstory: Harald was born and raised in Bergen. He worked in the local harbor and continued to do so until the Combine invaded and took over Norway and the rest of the world. With the Universal Union being established, he was relocated towards Tromsø which became a frozen hellscape after the Portal Storms. He managed to land himself a job as a factory manager, working under the local corrupt CWU management whilst taking odd jobs to earn himself some food when the rations were closed due to supply shortages.

Eventually he got himself relocated to City 17 where was apart of the arctic expedition to Svalbard. He managed to get elected as a foreman before quickly realizing that the overseers were incompetent which resulted in the expedition falling apart, leaving Harald traumatized at the incidents he has witnessed. He still struggles to cope with his trip to Svalbard often blaming himself for abandoning his camp and its people when he was attacked by a cannibal.
What does your character believe in?
Harald believes that with hard work he can land somewhere safe on Earth. Even though he might risk a limb for it.
Does your character believe in vengeance?
Harald doesn't believe that retribution is always the wisest choice. However after almost getting eaten alive by a cannibal, he believes it is fair to take revenge on people who have acted unfairly towards their fellow man.
Why is your character on the Pipeline?
Northug already worked on the pipeline in Svalbard. If he could survive that then he could absolutely survive the Pipeline in Mexico. Not to mention the money he may earn from this trip.

    Character name and role:
    Grant Schneider - Guard

    Brief backstory:
Grant experienced an impoverished upbringing, driving him into an observer from an early age. Ratting out misdemeanors and running past gruesome scenes to make a quick buck was the norm, and soon enough he was past of a television ensemble.

Questionable interviews, shot-by-shot statements juxtaposed to grim realities, almost-falsified lies went hand in hand with memorable footage and light-heated comedy done on improvised means. Behind the scenes, Grant played a major hand and showered under the opiate of mass-media, and it soon became all he had going for him.

The big break that he chased, however, never came. A ill-timed spoof of the 1992 L.A riots caused nation-wide outrage and as a result, the investing group behind his current employment shunted him into an office in the middle of nowhere. Forget stalled, his career had been pushed off a ten floor building.

Leaving the 'game' to go solo in tattered tabloids and rag-news did little, but with shrewd techniques and fearmongering, Grant had enough to put food on the table. He eked out a meager living for twenty years, only to be thrust back into his natural habitat in the few short months of Xenian infestation. And just when he thought it couldn't get better, they showed up.

With the Benefactors, came opportunity. Subservient, toe-the-line-or-die opportunity, but it was still one and the same all things considered. Formally employed in a media outfit once again, and fresh from reporting front-line chaos of the City Eight/Thirteen conflict, Grant's looking for the next step up to adoring crowds and a lifetime platinum status.

Things will only get better from here. Won't they?

What does your character believe in?
    Survival. Infamy, fame, fortune.

While the first is a necessary, the rest are byproducts. He's helped turn men from one to the other and in time, has grown absorbed with his (believed) ability to spin the news as he sees fit, like a bragging salesman lining up buyers. In the end, he's out to advance his career and ability, but that doesn't mean his humanity has become utterly numb yet.

Does your character believe in vengeance?
Not truly, but he does insist that everything is tied through consequence. If someone were to act on their belief of vengeance, it's likely he would merely watch (and take notes for his tabloid musings). It's this belief that saved him from a U.S.E Director's murderous musings during a stint as a Radar Technician.

Why is your character on the Pipeline?
Grant needs a story, something that can renew his stumbling career. What's better than showing the (apathetic) world just how miserable people on the pipeline live?

Character name and role: Willie McCoy - Guard
    Brief backstory:

Willie McCoy, the hustler. Young man born into the street life, no formal education, not so good with manual labor. He fell in with a gang of street boys pretty quickly, hustling his way to the top, cheating one man after another until he'd fallen into poor graces with the entire town, blown his entire paycheck on cheap highs and drugs before moving on to the next town.

The only people he'd ever been loyalt to were his crew, who just as quickly as they'd raised him found their own paths in life. He'd taken a particular liking to to an Indian fellow, one Sai Patel, real sucker for cars. It wasn't long before they set their eyes on India, City 267, setting up a gambling and rocketeering operation for the upcoming Tuk Tuk deathraces, their most ambitious gig yet.

The pair scrounged up a crew, sabotaged the Tuk Tuks that peaked the odds and got to work. Like a bad streak, the seasoned deathracers recognized their faults and were quick to compensate, ousting the rigged gambling operation in the blink of an eye. Sai Patel was held up by both betting cops and betting civvies, he was too far gone and was soon strung up over a backalley to set an example, Willie got off, skipped town with the betting money and found his way to the mythical land of Mexico, the last resort for anyone of the run, a great place to disappear.

A runaway wasn't good enough for him, he had to find some honest work, blend in with the locals and get a steady paycheck so he could slowly filter the money he'd brought with him into his riches without arousing suspicion from the local population. He found his way over to the local recruitment centers, onto a sweet pipeline gig. He ticked the guarding role, couldn't trust anyone else to cover his back or there to be a man left in the world who wouldn't sell him out just as soon as he'd sold the world out. He'd shot a gun before, couldn't be too hard right? The risk factor was muddled over in favor of the rewards.

There he was, a suitcase full of dirty money and a pipeline, ill prepared but on top of the world, one last gig before checking out - at least until he runs out of money again.

What does your character believe in?
Getting paid. People with ambiguous takes on morality that get things done. Loyalty to anyone he could call crew. The thrill of danger, adrenaline and cheap highs.
Does your character believe in vengeance? Yes, but perhaps he doesn't feel it applies to him as much as others.
Why is your character on the Pipeline? Debt to one too many folks, skipping town, getting paid.

    RAY DOUGAN
    CRIMINAL DAMAGE x2

    GBH x1

"What about this one, Dougan? He's a tradesman. Londoner, in the Tijuanan detention centre."
The narc took a puff on his Benson and Hedges, looking to his partner.
    "What's he in for?"
    "Armed robbery, City 129."
"Alright. Stick him on the Tijuana main."

What does your character believe in?:
A good time, not a long time.

Does your character believe in vengeance?:

"Vengance is a funny thing 'ere. Every cunt went mental when the world got turned on its head. If some mug tried to kill me, he's getting killed, simple as that."

Why is your character on the Pipeline?:

Once a promising tradesman with a keen hand, Dougan turned to a life of petty crime and violence. Arrested pre-war, as well as being housed in a detention centre of the union's after the fact, his big break came as a game of chance. Assigned to the pipeline, for his first honest day's work in a long while.
