now pick up the trash can
honestly if this was the case, delegate that to RLs
aren't rls like squad leaders
bit of a jump on the scale of authority
rls have too much authority as is in my opinion
this is what omso is
the only influence they have over the senate is to limit direct changes to civil protection and ota
Really the only reason the OMSO there is because it makes more sense IC for humans to mediate that bridge than an AI that literally can't process emotional states or intent.
okay so i've actually read the thread and
while a lot of cool ideas have been proposed i have 1 thing to say
I think quite a few people genuinely forget that if big changes go wrong the average member of this community doesn't shoulder the burden for that beyond the right to complain in the aftermath - even if they were one of the people who demanded the change happen. As I have been famously told before; "a player has no obligations but to play".
Now obviously that is completely fine - but it also leads to a remarkably narrow worldview in a lot of cases because people aren't expected to consider any experience but their own which means if something gets denied or turned down their first thought probably isn't to consider why beyond the immediate.
If a big change was rolled in that people wanted and it flopped, the average player could wash their hands of it. The people behind it couldn't though. Even as far back as LP there has been a reason as to why massive changes and big steps from the norm have been usually restricted to events (if they're done all at once at least), and thats because if it fails or doesn't work you can come back to something that does work and is stable and branch out from there.
Change is always good and important to push for but throwing out massive twists and turns would end in a shitshow, not positivity.
hot take: for every outspokenly vocal player talking about the need for change, there's 10 more who barely touch the forums because they're perfectly happy with how things are progressing
i myself think there's a few things that could and should be changed, but keep in mind that a vocal minority is still a minority
It's gamer time Senate gang.
Spoiler: Attack Plan 1 - OMSO has no power
(1) The Civil Authority Senate is the supreme organ of each urban centre across Sol 3. It decides in its plenary sessions the basic questions of state policy.
(2) The Civil Authority is the sole constituent and legislative organ in the Universal Society. No one can limit its rights.
The Civil Authority Senate decides on the state of defence of the Universal Union. In case of urgency the Overwatch Transhuman Forces are authorized to decide on a state of defence. The Civil Authority Senate, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Civil Defence proclaims the state of defence.
The Overwatch Armed Forces organizes, on behalf of the Civil Authority Senate, the execution of the political, economic, cultural and social tasks of the state and the defence tasks assigned to it. It functions on a collective basis.
Spoiler: Attack Plan 2 - Fail Safe to Change the Constitution to fuck OMSO
The Constitution may be amended only by the Civil Authority Senate through a law which expressly amends or supplements the text of the Constitution unambiguously.
@Dallas Thank you father for giving us the means to yeet on OMSO a year before it was needed.
proselyte gang makes the most unholy of alliances with OMSO

Let me google the definition of ironic really quick, to make sure I don't mess this up, english ain't my first language
So guys you know how people need protein to survive and build muscle. Also for union-labour. There's practically none in union food and caring for cattle really isnt a resource-efficient option. What if the Union had some epic grub/maggot farms like in Blade Runner 2049 and that was part of the mushed up gruel in rations or purchaseable seperately for any citizens who want to not rot away. That'd be pretty epic, even as an explanation for the "Synthetic" meat. Whatever that's supposed to be.
termite farming work shift please
Purchasable supplements would actually be an interesting concept.
almost like there's IC friction between the OMSO and CAB which we've not taken into OOC.
I personally thought it would make for interesting political intrigue but yet again the power of buttfrustration has shown to overwhelm this sort of thing
an ic power struggle cannot commence when one side, by way of ooc structures, has supremacy over all others
might as well dissolve the senate and rule like old cab, what's the point if there is take and no give
