So I’m not sure it’s 100% True since it’s the internet but this article https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/12/...ion-policy.html#click=https://t.co/m4xOnlqEcK

Apparently says that Trump will target Legal immigrants benefits such as food stamps, I’m unsure on how they will be penalized but it will go in process in 60 days however it may be delayed.

I believe green card holder may be exempt? But it’s tricky

Still if you voted for Trump Fuck You.

My family is not green card holder, I’m the only one unfortunatelly and they rely on foodstamp benefits to feed me, and them. And this can deal a serious blow to families including mine, which in term could mean I will have to immigrate somewhere else which is what the Racist orange buffon wants, so let’s see how it goes.

What are you guys opinion on this? True? Fake news?

That’s the actual New York Times website, so I don’t think it’s fake.

I’m honestly at a loss to explain to Trump supporters that they should actually fucking care about other people’s well being. I shouldn’t have to explain that.

I don't think this is real, but if it is, I could get behind it because lots of people immigrate legally/illegally in hopes of getting those juicy social services while the illegals wait out amnesty.

The principle is that immigrants of the 20s and 30s would migrate, get work, and not become dependent on the 'doll' or charity (but charity was there for those who needed it).

If you can't afford to live in America, I suggest not moving to Canada if you're forced out of the country do to fiscal issues.

It's a tough spot to be in, if you're not already working, I'd suggest you start and help take care of the grocery bills. Depending on what state you're living in, you might want to move somewhere cheaper.

Frankly, I don't believe anybody should be receiving foodstamps/welfare in America, unless they're an American citizen.

Why do American avoid wellfare and socialism like it’s communism, Who the fuck cares if you are American, Mexican, British, we are all fucking human and we should all get wellfare and the goverment should provide assistance to everyone, as everyone does a Job, Passing this meaning even with a Job you might not even stay afloat

This is such a retarded way to think, And I hope If you ever go to another country they offer you help cause everyone deserves it to survive. Build Bridges damn it not Walls

I’m really sorry you have such a view cause this will literally kill some people.

Perhaps, if you paid into the social services since you were a child paying taxes on 5 cent candies to the point where you're an adult, still paying taxes. Every citizen of every nation spends their entire life putting money into the nation's social services. What gives anybody the right to jump into any other country's system, having not paid a cent towards the system, and go on to slurp up all the benefits that other Americans have built up for other Americans?

As of right now, there are already too many social services in the United States and many of them are in danger of becoming untenable. Adding more people would only hasten the trajectory.

Also, if you haven't discovered the dangers of socialism and communism, I can only suggest further reading.

Unrelated: my socks "Walls, not bridges"

the idea of helping people in one’s own country is horrifying to many. never mind the idea of helping people who don’t live in one’s country.

apparently the worth of other human beings depends on which arbitrary borders they’re born within.

we're all so envious of a country where dying of cancer can be a preferable alternative to treatment as it can put you so far in debt youll never be in the green for atleast the next 30 years

ironic, considering the United States has the best in the world medical technology at treatment of cancer with the highest success rates in the world.

i rather part with more of my money, knowing that i'm getting the best odds for my recovery.

rather that then getting to stage 4 by the time i can be treated.

Alright...so where's the charity for those who need it now?

Hell, even americans themselves are getting dicked over by the current admin: cuts to SocSec, Medicare, Medicaid, $1.5 trillion in tax cuts, almost another $1 trillion in tariffs on products the middle class depends on.

At what point do we realize the world isn't what it used to be, capitalism isn't perfect, and america has to evolve beyond its old ways at some point? At what point do we have the humility to realize we're denying people their lives. They aspire to come here to work.

If you listen to President Reagan's 1989 farewell address you may learn something: immigration wasn't only ideal in the 20s and 30s with Ellis Island. People still knew how to work hard even when migrant demographics were changing and so was the nature of our economy.

Have some humanity, dude. These people are fleeing the plight of their home nations and facing abject poverty. When they come here they're met with under-the-table wages, with the looming threat of being booted out, and with a general sense of being unwelcome. I'd like you to prove to me they're some great threat, some great drain on our economy, and that they don't actually work hard.

I don't have an issue with legal immigration whatsoever. You'll never find me saying that immigration is a net loss as a whole. The coffee shop I work at has at least 50% Filipino and they're fine. Good Catholics, like I'd assume most Mexican immigrants are. If we didn't have them working there, the store would have to increase pay to actually get people to work there. I rather ask what immigrants can do for our great country, than what our great country can do for these immigrants. I don't need to be reminded of how many Chinese workers were used to build the CPR.

Charity is still there, the news just doesn't talk a lot about the good that's being done everyday. There's plenty of resources for legal/illegal immigrants. There's even people coaching people in Mexico to get them through asylum claims, so don't tell me there's no 'charity' whether food donations or legal aid.
