Thanks @Danny for making imagery for literally everything

We have a "live" Q&A set for Saturday, however I'm not sure if I'll be making it in time. I brainstormed with several other staff members and came to the conclusion I'd post a thread with the main QA's gathered from the concept thread.
I reckon we can use the live QA to go a little more in-depth on specific issues and generally talk about how to approach some concepts we've been struggling with, with the main questions answered here.

PLEASE ONLY POST QUESTIONS, AND READ PREVIOUSLY ANSWERED QUESTIONS BEFORE POSTING. Don't clog the thread with discussion or answering others, it's easier if I can see pages of questions I can quickly add to the OP. I'd kindly ask moderators to remove all other irrelevant posts from this thread.

Big thanks to @Worley for taking the time to go through the original concept thread and listing the initial questions and answers.

    Q&A
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: It seems like this will be shifted towards civilians VS soviets correct? Im kinda worried it will turn into hl2rp rebels vs combine where civs will just circlejerk while soviets are the big bad guys and there will be occasional shotcops in this case sniping patrols

Answer: A large portion of our development time went into ensuring we wouldn't be 'copying' a hl2rp-esque setting, hence why we put focus on different aspects and tried to keep that ww3rp focus on combat and quick intense situations. I reckon there'd be a number of different aspects/systems/factions that will ensure it doesn't bog down to a point like that.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: What weapon base will this use?

Answer: I've worked with TFA for the most part, there's a bunch of specific weaponry/equipment running on other bases but not to the point where it'd be noticable.
Also made sure we have functional attachment items and redundant stuff like the stat screen has been removed

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Being a civilian will probably be a good experience, but the usual question, will there be events that need the involvement of civilians in them? Not just as victims or perpetrators, but as bystanders.

Answer: The dynamic is a lot more complicated than that. The 'Stasiland' in the tile references a lawless badland, a vacuum for anyone to try and seize power. Be that those aligned with the Soviet Union, the clandestine apparatus of NATO or perhaps even a band of insurgents and local population, hoping to build up enough armament and influence to fight off both warring parties for independence.

This whole experience is shaped by the local population, given that it is the default faction. So I don't see why there would be events without them.
WW3 is still going on, so more than likely we'll have 'war' events in the traditional sense too.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Am I allowed to ask on here for some boys to take me under their wing for the first time I play this?

Answer: This is a brand new gamemode. It is WW3RP in name and lore only really, we're offering a new experience with the fundamental things than made WW3RP fun at its core.

Don't go in expecting the traditional WW3RP experience. Except for perhaps the Soviet side of the server (which I'll be leading and overseeing stuff with, be it the military or intelligence or whatever), which will see some similar stuff to traditional military roleplay.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: what's the status on armored brigades/vehicles for this iteration?

Answer: We've got tanks, helicopters, jeeps, trucks, APCs etc. Their specific usage is tba but they'll likely be used extensively.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: i have a lot of interest in the new direction being taken but i feel like @Husky actually raised a genuinely good point

if this just becomes hl2rp except with soviets in 1992 then itll be pretty boring the longer it goes on

Answer: This was one of the concerns in development, and one of the reasons we have been working on it for so long. We understand the problems similar iterations have attempted, and of course we don't want to follow down that path. We also don't want to step on any ones toes.

Without giving too much away, this has been our main concern and have been working in conjunction with others to ensure that is not the case.

HL2RP is HL2RP, it is slow paced CityRP in a sci-fi setting. Nothing will usurp that as being Nebulous' main draw, its bread and butter and its most successful server.

WW3RP: STASILAND is a fast paced militaryRP with a focus on asymmetrical warfare in a historical setting, it is a bold new direction for the formula but ultimately when RB and I were talking about getting back into this. We chose something bold and new rather than go for a formula which has been done over and over again.

We've been taking our time with the server, we want it to be a new experience which will not only draw in some new people, but also bring back the old who are familiar with the concept.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Apparently, you can create crime syndicates now. But I'm not sure what you would do with them unless you wanna like sell weapons or information to the other team and get rich.

Answer: There's a lot of functions that can be used to establish networks of gunrunning, producing counterfeit products, growing natural drugs, producing synthetic drugs etc, just to name a few. I can go more in depth on the full range of abilities later.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Thank you for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it and I can’t wait to play. Can I ask when we are able to request char Auths and who we should direct our concerns to and if there is a format you want us to use?

Answer: Still sorting out the logistics of the server, we posted this to see if you guys wanted to see something like this in the first place and if you like our new concept.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: can you comment if NATO resupply events will be a thing or not

I can't see people using mugging as a primary source for supplies given most of the old timers will be on the Soviet roster and they won't fall for shit

Answer: Without going into details a lot, NATO as a full-fledged military force will have a limited presence on the server, one of their tasks being embedding themselves within the local population and actively undermining soviet forces. That includes supplies through their own channels, which they'll have to maintain and protect.

While not fully completed, we brainstormed the concept of there being a multitude of stockpiles / armories / outposts manned and maintained by soviet forces, as well as there being remnants of the main NATO fighting force from the previous conflict trying to sustain themselves.

I reckon early-stage weaponry would mainly be a product of scavenging, crafting and legal-tools-turned-deadly, to that extent we added stuff like pipe rifles, zipguns, a variety of melee weapons, .22 caliber sports weaponry, outdated antiques etc etc

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: What factions and such will have to be applied for?

Answer: Soviets Armed Forces, and the specialisations within it (Intelligence, Logistics, Vehicles, Intelligence) as well as the Ministry for State Security (Stasi), which is most likely going to be a part of the faction, for the sake of OOC logistics.

The NATO SF will be highly elusive and the whitelist process will reflect that.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I know citizens and shit was donator only back then, what will be the premium aspects in this since citizens will be the main focus

Answer: No firm idea as of yet, we joked about the dog faction though. I suppose suggestions are welcome as well

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Will there be any measures to stop soviets and other people from shooting civvies/refugees on sight or is everyone just an enemy now

Answer: Definitely, the entire focus on asymetrical warfare and counter-insurgency surrounds that. A rough draft of the rules would indicate that civilians are to be treated as subjects unless they actively engage in threatening behaviour. I reckon there'd be a distinction in visible weapon severity as well

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Actually I never learned this but, what's China's role in WW3?

well last time in 1990, they were neutral, but were almost called in when some ((rogue sailors)) from a US submarine almost nuked their cities but im not sure if it was ever elaborated on

Answer: The plan was to get them more involved and aligned with the Soviet Union / potentially start a civil war both sides could cash in on. That storyline never really came to be, we've yet to decide what happened to them properly. But since WW3 is mostly raging in the background and only visible through propaganda / underground newspapers / off-map events we can go a number of different ways with it.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: for civilians who decide to knuckle down and do as they're told under occupation, will they have their own apartments to live in? will there be a hunger/thirst system that it respectably important?

Answer: Food/drink will naturally be a large part in the server, to that extent we added the full range of consumables in different categories, from military-issued rations to crudely cooked meat and homebrewed alcohol.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Did the soviet union invade anything outside europe and maybe asia?

Answer: It's a direct continuation of the 1983/1990 lore, save for a couple of months unaccounted for at this moment. We've yet to fill in specific gaps but it's safe to say there are still highly active fronts in and around Korea as well as southern Europe, where our campaigns came to a halt by the closing of ww3rp

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: So uhhhh can we get a map of soviet controlled territories please im too dumb to visualise things

Answer: Yeah, I'll probably release some of the old lore threads and revised world maps soon, as well as some more in-depth talk on specific gameplay elements

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I just hope we will get stuff like molotovs... I miss them man

Answer: We've got everything a guerrilla needs, some of which are shown in the weapons demo video. We've added stuff like IEDs and other items since then.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I don't want the whole map to turn into a Mafia vs Soviet battleground. How do you guys plan to achieve a balance?

Answer: Don't want to intervene in player choice with regards to organisations, they can have whatever ideology or motives that they want as long as it fits with the setting and is serious. The balance can always be handled ICly, that certain civilian groups will have conflicts of interest or share interests and will naturally come into conflict or support of one another.

This isn't Civilians vs Soviets. It's all these different influencing factors; be it personal interests, NATO, Soviets et cetera - playing together.

Just say you have two groups pro-independence, fighting both 'sides' if you want to call it that, ideologically they may differ or one may want power over each other - they'll come into conflict with one another and that may lead to the losing group to seek help from one of the bigger influencing sides in order to get the upper hand.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: How will NATO factions work? I mean, considering that probably more due to the openness of this time there will likely be multiple NATO based factions if they are player led. So which ones will be supplied and become 'official'?

Answer: As I believe I mentioned, 'returning' NATO characters not in the specialised faction are likely going to be in the form of 'civilians' with an authorized backstory / equipment, explained as leftover remnants from the battle for Europe or troops that have gone underground after their defeat. They'd be free to set up their own groups of vets or integrate with other factions / groups, though they'd have to be on their toes for soviet forces actively hunting ex-NATO personnel.

The 'official' sanctioned and logistically supplied NATO force would be the elusive and secretive hidden NJSOC Special Forces faction, comprised of covert operatives, intelligence officers and other specialists, though those can choose to share their intelligence / ordnance with trustworthy groups and allies, they'd have to be on the lookout for treason and groups working against their own agenda. Without revealing too much details, NJSOC would be a splintered group of individuals working their own angles with their own style, often independent from one another with one overseeing command structure that relays orders and information to them.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: What's NATOs reasoning for still staying on the map? Are the Soviets under armed or something?
NATO looks pretty fucked judging by that map char provided.

Answer: The main fighting takes place in the Asian campaigns we ended WW3RP on, with NATO in the european sector mainly focusing on defending their last bastion, the UK, while engaging in small-scale warfare in the form of SF units in occupied europe while not wanting to provoke another large front there. Soviet Union by now is overstretched to the point they can't properly respond to all the flashpoints, especially with only conscript, recovering and backwater units maintaining order in the newly annexed territories. The main lore for the concept consists mainly of the Soviet's inability to keep control after they've been too ambitious in their initial conquests.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: do you have any maps ready or in-mind which you're ready/willing to show us? that we might find ourselves on?

Answer: Uh, we've got some lined up and are working on a couple others, nothing I'd like to properly confirm as being 'the map' though

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Since we are in the middle of a World War I guess most trading will be done through barter? Will we actually see a currency?

Answer: That's actually an interesting concept we toyed around with, right now as it stands the Soviets have their typical 'requisition' currency in much smaller amounts than previously, which is exclusively spent on equipment and food/water and is practically useless for anyone outside the army. I added a variety of german mark currency banknotes, coins etc that can be inserted into circulation as actual currency items that take up inventory space.

It can go either way, with people using it as valid payment method, or it boiling down to a bartering system. It's something that we still need to put more thought in to in order to come up with a flawlessly working system

    (Very large posts)
    Question: https://nebulous.cloud/threads/preview-discussion-ww3rp-stasiland.39172/page-19#post-781535

    Answer: https://nebulous.cloud/threads/preview-discussion-ww3rp-stasiland.39172/page-19#post-781549

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: yeah that's cool but since all combat is pk people are gonna chicken out 'cus then they'll have to make new chars and spend weeks grinding for gear, which sounds uhm............................ familiar
unless the actual progression towards getting guns is a lot faster. then it's all fair.

Answer: One thing we stressed in our pitch on Monday there wad that access to weapons is readily available, perhaps lower tear weapons like melee, bows, pipe rifles et cetera. But given the action focus you wouldn't be lacking.

The concept of the Stasiland is that there is no government per-se, so peolle cannot rely on that. Instead on themselves and others, and the competing factions. In that sense it is the opppsite of HL2RPs very present apparatus of state.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Who do you plan on appointing as COs and NCOs when beginning or will it be an application process

Answer: Apllication process mainly, although for leaders od certain branches I will probably select people, just to help with initial ooc logistics.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: can we bring back our chars we had during the war?

Answer: in time an in depth country list of characters you are freely allowed to make, and those restricted for whatever reason, will be produced. You will, however, be able to play your old characters from WW3RP 1983/1990rp with appropriate authorisation. Be they returning as a NATO left-behind, a Soviet Soldier, a civilian or perhaps one of the more secretive factions. Character authorisations is something we want to be liberal with, in the sense that we want to see player creativity unhindered, but still realistic to the setting which we have produced. The way we're envisioning things now, we'll be able to grant specific authorisations to starting groups to better allow their backstory and function to have an impact on the server.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: wait so is the whole of the mainland occupied by warsaw pact? and will it be set in west germany or something?

Answer: Most of the European mainland was conquered by the soviets during the events of 1983/1990 WW3RP, we intend for the concept to take place in Germany after it was unified by the Soviet invasion during 1983 (2016-2017 LP). Germany would've been the longest-running new soviet republic and also the most prone to outbreaks of violence in the wake of the ongoing war.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: How are new players going to be greeted to the server? Will they start as civilians/Soviets/etc? And will training be required for them?

Answer: I believe this is listed in the OP, Soviets will be a whitelisted faction with the 'open to all' faction being civilians/insurgents

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Will there be frequent map changes? Will this even be necessary without the conventional blue vs red dynamic?

Answer: The way we've structured the concept is that we'd like to avoid frequent 'main' map changes to allow for people to actually establish organisations, bases, long-term plots etc etc. Though with the setting of WW3RP I reckon we can make good use of off-map events to portray other conflicts and situations happening around the world.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: passing yourself off as an MSS agent wouldn't be that hard with the right attitude and attire

Answer: Playing in to the entire subversion angle of the server, we're working on forgery systems to copy official documents/identifications, as well as having infiltration from either insurgent groups, NATO, Stasi or other unaligned entities play a larger role. We played around with the potential for a large unaligned insurgent group being infiltrated by every other faction, which would result in some sort of shadow three-way-conflict within said group.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: A NATO taskforce compromised of some (or a significant majority) with these is also fine.

Answer: People never really understood that the "NATO Joint Special Operations Command" (NJSOC) was always an international cooperation of all NATO countries' Special Forces and Intelligence agencies. People always referred to themselves as 'NATO Soldier' despite NATO not being a country but rather a cooperation of multiple armies.

I was going to write up a full origin guide for potential NJSOC operators, but in essence members of the NJSOC can be members of any intelligence / special operations branch, provided it's from a NATO country and said organisation engages in foreign intelligence / direct action etc.

It'd be perfectly reasonable to see members with a CIA SAD background cooperating with SAS, SEAL, ISA etc operators as part of a larger NATO Taskforce.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I for one, believe that the Commissariat and Army should operate separately in the sense that they use different ranking structures and have specifically different roles. I'd also like to see a focus on the Soviet Army, and in terms of covert operations, KGB rather than Spetsnaz. If anything, I'd like to see Spetsnaz/Soviet SF in only special event circumstances as they're more likely needed in other regions the Soviet Union is facing.

Answer: As of right now there's zero plans to incorporate 'Soviet SF' into the mix, with the focus being on a regular Army unit in an away-from-the-frontline scenario, as well as the Ministry for State Security (Stasi) incorporating elements/liaisons of the KGB etc as a seperate entity co-existing with the Army, having a shared employed/allegiance but different goals. It'd be nice to have a degree of inter-faction tension and different priorities as a source of roleplay as well.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I'd also like to see a lot of attention being paid to how promotions are given and why they're given. Its' always a very subjective thing that usually gets messed up somehow or another. I don't particularly want people being rewarded for effectively winning scenarios over roleplay, but I also wouldn't want incompetent NCOs, and its' always a struggle to get the right balance and promote the rights ones while giving them fair enough time in between ranks to actually note that stage as a point of their life and experience.

Answer: Players should treat ranks as a function rather than just another collectible to achieve. I reckon for this setting to work properly people should expect to remain a certain rank for a long time, even if it's a private. NCOs have a specific function in guiding teams, officers have more of a political and management function and the enlisted are the main forefront of the faction.

Perhaps we need to put more OOC restrictions on freedom of promotion, such as stripping the ability away from people with a certain rank and making it more of an OOC process. People shouldn't do things with the mindset of being promoted for it. Again, ranks are a job, medals are a reward.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Commissariat are basicly MPs. I say this as an old lead of that sub faction. They should have their own ranking structure for game reasons but shouldn't be seperate from the army ranks as it wont make sence since MPs, atleast in my army, still share the same ranks as basic infantry.

Answer: On that note, we're not yet settled on how big of a role the 'commissars'/MPs should play within the Soviet faction, especially seeing the controversy previously surrounding them. The nature of the concept should allow for more corruption and infiltration to be present, I reckon I'd rather have a handful of investigators for that purpose instead of having a bunch of military policemen hunt for spies/pows on a daily basis as their sole function.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: yeah that's cool but since all combat is pk people are gonna chicken out 'cus then they'll have to make new chars and spend weeks grinding for gear, which sounds uhm............................ familiar

Answer: I know that char adressed most of your concerns already, but on the topic of PK's I'd like to mention that I'd rather not have ALL combat be PKs, obviously we'd mess with the server balance if an entire armed force / intelligence entity would be able to be exterminated with a single lucky carbomb for example. I reckon we'd be enforcing PKs more often, but under specific circumstances.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: S2K WW3RP is fun banter with the lads not good roleplay

Answer: Definitely a big concern, little we can do about it other than provide people with an environment and system in which 's2k banter' is structurally discouraged or made harder to achieve. Ultimately it's up to the people, if they decide to go in with a mindset of 'lets get these memes boys' we'll go downhill pretty fast.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: to what extent is all this true, and assuming this will be occurring in Germany, how much of the occupying force will be Slavic Soviets, and how much will be Aryan/W.Euro Soviets? Will there be discrimination towards non-Russian/Slavic Soviets in terms of ranks, or KGB eligibility?
    Rogue authorizations for Soviet characters?

Answer: No solid agreement on the shunning of certain characters part, however it's likely that members of the warsaw pact and occupied countries can join the armed forces seeing as it's a backwater unit stationed with peacekeeping duties in mind, rather than an elite frontline regiment. KGB'd obviously be a bit more specific.

As for rogue auths, I mentioned that the concept would allow us to tolerate corruption more, with everyone effectively in it for themselves. I reckon we can auth corruption within the army ranks provided it's done realistically and conform certain guidelines, obviously we're not gonna tolerate people shooting up their own base for the heck of it or selling the entire stockpile of weapons during graveyard hours.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I'm wondering how char and Roosebud managed to keep militia/civilian from being premium only, considering that's how it was on WW3RP, despite all attempts to change that.

Answer: Civilians / militia were sort-of shoehorned in as a premium benefit on the old ww3rp, towards the end I tried to flesh them out more and mentioned that I'd like to do a concept where they'd be at the forefront.

We dont really have much in the way of premium benefits right now, once again suggestions are welcome.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    (Big post)
    Question: https://nebulous.cloud/threads/preview-discussion-ww3rp-stasiland.39172/page-18#post-781510

    Answer: https://nebulous.cloud/threads/preview-discussion-ww3rp-stasiland.39172/page-27#post-781765

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: How much control will NATO troops have over thenselves? Will there be a faction lead to guide the overall faction or will the characters have full autonomy, for instance forming different factions of NATO exiles.

Answer: This was addressed earlier, the only 'true' NATO faction would be the secretive special forces group, which enjoy relative operational freedom but have a direct line of communications to an off-map command entity that relays information and general directions to the team(s).

Characters with an authorized NATO backstory would, for the most part, be in the local population and be cut off from any form of official military structure, only retaining some authorized gear and their knowledge of their past.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: God knows how they got from the Korean Peninsula to Germany tho

Answer: I'm sure we can retcon certain characters ever being there and instead place them as being left behind during the panicked NATO evacuation of Europe for the sake of character development / allowing people to continue their story.

Though that's not final yet, considering we don't want an entire NATO army group being present amongst civilians

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Is the Soviet faction going to have different branches/sub factions, and if so, what are they and what will they do?
What other factions are planned besides super sikrit NATO, Soviets, Stasi and civilians?

Answer: We've only just begun on the structuring of the factions themselves seeing as we're wrapping up the code side of it all.

I reckon we'd need some form of entity to manage the Soviet motor pool, seeing as we have a fleet of APCs / Tanks / Jeeps / Helicopters etc.

Some sort of medical detachment would likely be valuable, however due to it not being constant carnage that might be solved with individual specialisations rather than a full branch

We're a bit divided on the commissar stuff seeing as the Stasi would likely be handling the hunt for insurgents, might also be some sort of specialisation / handful of authorized characters instead of a full branch

Very early concept, but we might delve a little further into a logistics organisation to better facilitate our concept of limiting weaponry / supplies to a certain extent

As for the others, we dont have much more factions planned aside from the Soviet army and its branches, the State Security and its branches, the NJSOC and the local population with all of its potential groups.

We had an idea about Soviet penal troops / forced conscripts at the very start, but scrapped that due to some high potential for severe issues with them. We also have a dog whitelist but I reckon that'd be mostly limited to authorisations or specific characters.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: ngl man you should totally add penals to the server

Answer: Highly unlikely after the way people treated them previously

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I think some form of forced work for the state would be nice and help facilitate more corruption and stuff

Answer: Yeah we toyed with the concept of employing some sort of forced labour force or having people caught engaging in illegalities 'redeem' themselves through work, we figured we'd border on a concept like the CWU quite heavily. And making it an armed force would severely upset the balance of gameplay seeing as everyone will likely just sell their weapon or gun down their guards the moment they'd get the chance.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: What was the problem with Penals anyway?
I've only heard they exist, not why they won't come back.

Answer: We had it as a form of alternative for detainees on the Soviet faction, where people that broke military law were stripped of their rank and placed in the penal battalion for a pre-set amount of time, having shitty equipment and food and basically being spat upon before they'd be able to earn their way back into the main ranks.

People either misunderstood the concept or didn't care and made fresh penal characters on the whitelist (despite it being meant exclusively for existing detainees and prisoners) and just used them as throwaways to baseattack and do suicide charges with the typical 'uraa penal lives for the motherland' stereotypes.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: @Roosebud prone mod? And will Soviets have abilities and utilities you hinted too earlier like drones? Tanks? Helicopters? Will the stasi be central to the plot? As with the SIS?

Answer: Prone mod doesn't work and will likely never work due to how it fucks with models etc. I mentioned the Soviets having acces to a full motor pool including armed APCs, troop carriers, tanks etc obviously with their own set of rules. The overhead surveillance in the form of satellites and aerial drones would be too advanced for the soviet forces in this context, they're in the arsenal of the NATO SF for the most part

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Will civilians be allowed to get cars?

Answer: We were messing about with a system of licensed vehicles, where the Army/Ministry regulates the relatively scarce amount of working vehicles etc. With people being able to acquire / forge / steal licenses and vehicles of different classes such as personal / utility etc.

Not fully worked out yet, but yes we'd like a pool of civilian vehicles

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: What will the old computers be used for? Is there anything intended for them?

Answer: eah, early leaks since a lot of people immediately datamined the content packs for anything leakable. We've got a reworked adaption of various computer addons that we'll be using to create an early version of a inter-faction intranet. People'd be able to send messages and lists of stuff like inventories, wanted individuals, assets etc over a secured network shared between the Stasi and Army for example, while in the meantime people'd be able to break into said networks through a number of ways, including extracting passwords from captured individuals or gaining access to unsecured terminals.

We envisioned it as a more in-depth replacement for inter-faction comms, as well as a way for NATO to receive clandestine orders while giving outsiders the ability to break into said comms and acquire information on shipments, agents, movements etc. Rather than have it just be a shared radio channel, opens up an entire new way of interaction and espionage.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: someone get one thing clear for me

to join civilians, or any other special whitelist for example, do we still have to apply for them or are they open to create a character on once you joined
are ALL bodygroups free to everybody? And if so, what models are going to be used?

Answer: Civilians isn't a special whitelist, it's the main faction, so yeah open to everyone. The rest is application/whitelist based. We've got a number of different models/modelpacks lined up but we're still deciding on them so no final answer. Same about bodygroups

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: say in the event that this civilian occupation dynamic doesn’t work, are there intentions to run with a traditional nato vs soviet dynamic as in ‘old’ ww3rp, or will it stay as this new system of things?

Answer: I'd rather not refer to it as a civilian occupation setting, because it technically isn't.

It's something we did discuss seeing as we anticipated some people to throw the usual 'bro I just want to s2k in a semi serious setting'.

It's always a big risk to go about something with a new concept/approach, so there's defo a chance that it'll turn out bad over the long term, however I've no interest personally to do another 2 faction patrol-combat type server so I dunno how that'd play out. Without much speculation I'd reckon people could always get someone else to run it if it's a realistic option of bringing back.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: not sure on how it is now, but when i had german characters i considered germany and that somewhat of free france in the way it’s a government-in-exile, so the Bundeswehr and auxiliary forces are connected to NATO and elligle for NJSOC (also u forget the BND) but as for KSK i can’t see it existing, no

Answer: Federal Republic is in exile in the UK, NJSOC will have the option to play as German Special Forces chars if they like, operating in exile.
Can't wait to see what kind of specialisations / backgrounds the operators will have.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Does the UK have much military power left they can project or is it just home defense now?

Answer: The way we structured NATO as primarily engaging in behind-enemy-lines covert warfare is that they're maintaining a strict defensive focus in the western theater while the main bulk of combat takes place in Asia, where we left off during the final campaign of ww3rp. Both sides have exhausted their options on the western front and frantically maintain a status quo so to speak while they rebuild and engage in other campaigns. The UK'd be the main 'last bastion' of NATO forces within Europe and focuses on protecting their country while serving as a base of operations for missions conducted over and in Soviet-annexed Europe.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: what of the german civil war/unrest?

give us the scoop on what happened after stasiland if any of it actually happened?

Answer: Stasiland, the RP document, is still canon. Although the revolution hasn't been as successful as Kastner planned, at least in that sense.

He's still out there, large and in charge of his Federalist band. One of the big factors contributing to the collapse of the GDR into the titular 'STASILAND'.

I wrote up a lore document about it, still TBD.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: With WW3RP returning, could the old WW3RP posts be unarchived and released back into the public?

Answer: eh, bit iffy on doing all of them, though I reckon we can open up some. Remains to be seen after we figure out the most important parts of the to-do list

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: estimate when the content pack drops?

    Answer: Probably not until the final stretch before a potential launch, I know how much people like to already subscribe to the packs right now to try and see what's in it, but I'll repeat what I said earlier;

Honestly, dont give yourself a headache by already subbing to the packs, I'm constantly updating / adjusting them and there's a lot of bloated content in them right now that has been made redundant and might be removed down the line. Save yourself the disk space

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: will it be more city focused, or will it be a totally bombastic warzone, or is it something more akin to this war of mine?

    just curious

Answer: We're not aiming for any kind of city focus, due to the contrast with HL2RP as well as us wanting to emphasize the conflict setting rather than a state of relative peace and order. We're mostly aiming for a warzone like the kind you'd expect from a country torn apart by warring factions

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: Will there be homemade guns? I really like guns

    Answer:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: This is a combat related question. Is everything going to be First Person only? Or will third person like HL2RP's combat system work.

Answer: I'd personally not want to include third person due to the semi-combat focus of it all. Had enough issues with people using external crosshairs to have to deal with people camping corners as well

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: No vendors offers up interesting dynamics of soviets keeping stock records and having to get supplies in which lets the insurgents raid either and provides roleplay instead of looking at a salesmen and clicking

Answer: Don't worry, it's something we are leaning towards, it sounds great in theory but the logistics of how it would work and who can be trusted with it is a different story.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question: I know its probably written somewhere in these 40 odd pages, but when they take a good ten minutes to load I can't be fucked to look.

But, what are the requirements for something like this? How does one get authorised to play an old character?

Answer: Applications for both factions and authorisations is going to take a very much In Character form, not so much a focus on how much you can write about OOC experience, but how compelling you are as a writer and how good you are at crafting believable characters to our setting.

That does not mean IC interviews or something, just more IC oriented written applications

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Question: Allowing Femchars in general

    Answer: I'm not a big fan of outright banning female characters due to a number of reasons;

    A) A very large portion of players enjoy playing them

    B) There's multiple ways to deal with unrealistic characters other than outright enforcing a global ban, seeing as some players can play them realistically

    C) A lot of the issues that plague the stereotypical female characters also apply to the male ones, except the females are often sexualised and memed about more

We have this discussion every time, I don't see how a complete ban would make anything more enjoyable or better when it's down to a specific group of players, some of which would just make another generic superman soldier with the same stereotypical behaviour

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aside from the typical lockers I reckon we'll place caches and containers throughout the map, as well as authorizing (limited) storage for established groups etcetera. However we also wish to emphasize people's craftiness and own smarts in hiding weaponry / equipment in plain sight, or leaving stuff like duffelbags stuffed somewhere in the woods or sewers.

It's something we're still trying to tackle completely, I wouldn't mind suggestions from the players on this one as well, we're really looking for a completely new way to handle this stuff.

I reckon we'll have to break lore and disallow the Stasi / Army entities from just grabbing someone based on another person's word. It's essentially a state of lawlesness where everyone screws everyone for the sake of their own survival, and it is assumed the Stasi etc know that as well, they wouldn't have the capacity to follow up on every would-be snitch. I'd much prefer to see people building actual cases or investigators that begin to monitor a certain group after a number of calls etc, without immediately busting down doors unless it's confirmed that they're NATO agents or w/e.
They wouldn't so much need to 'control' the population as you'd have the Army struggling to regain order. They'd mostly be focused on the mapping, documenting and investigating of insurgent networks through a number different ways.

It's likely one of those concepts that will be adjusted based on how players handle it, with imperfections being stamped out along the way.

Pretty sure we have over 60 weapons already in the game, dunno if we need any more at this point

We'll likely open up applications for staff positions, recruiting from an existing team or only getting in previous members won't work

We've adressed the needs system, food and drink will be universally present and people will need to sustain themselves.

Economy will likely be a mixture of player driven concept as well as the presence of a number of different currencies in the form of banknotes, military requisition, resources and other valuables. While the main form of currency would be state-issued banknotes, it'd be interesting to see if that'd remain the dominant form of currency.
We've also toyed with the idea of allowing groups to produce their own currencies with exchange rates and all that.

We're still working on the terminals, but if we manage to properly secure 'government' networks from outsider entry I can see it being possible to allow certain realistic civilian organisations to have networks of their own that can then be spied upon etc.

    Some idle spitballing:
    • Unlike HL2 it can be safely assumed that most civilian players will want to arm themselves - and obviously you could make it so all citizens spawn in with at least the basic capacity to hold items (give them a suitcase or whatever they can drop as you said).

    • Containers can very quickly spiral, especially as groups grow and expand - this is especially true of you lose track of them. Authorising individual ones is a problem but group ones will also be a hassle, especially when it comes to "hidden" containers and how you'll handle groups going at one another/raiding one another for supplies and/or raids from the soldiers.

    • Containers throughout the map could work if they all work off of the premium-style system HL2 has, but that also runs into the issue of soldiers not being able to breach them if they're legitimately found given each will be unique. If they aren't unique then you also have the risk of people cleaning out the stashes.
Obviously the other option is people legitimately hiding them behind props and such but that also comes with the issue of people simply searching through everywhere to be ICly thorough. I don't think there'll be any 100% foolproof way to handle this.

No, because that's not the Army's function as they'd be more focused on the larger picture and military duties. The Stasi has some equipment in the form of pepperspray, batons etc but we haven't fully developed their purpose yet, likely a focus on arrests.
    Merged:
We're working on the concept we spoke of in regards to having outposts, stockpiles, armories etc that people can rob. Likely have it so that those locations are only stocked / fair game if there's an x amount of number of Soviet troops around or something similar. Not fully thought out yet though we have some ideas on how to approach it.

Containers is the issue I mentioned earlier, we're not sure if we want to use the typical container system so we're exploring other options as well. Once again suggestions are welcome.

I made the default inventory slightly larger, along with a larger array of storage items designed for specific equipment due to the nature of the stuff you'll be carrying.

We're working to get an early sub-form set up as we speak, I reckon early auths will follow after that

"Stasiland" is explained as a semi-lawless warzone, so I reckon we're already past the stage of rioting and have progressed into full-blown insurgencies. I reckon that'll be met with a different sort of force so there's no real need for dedicated non-lethal riot control

Yeah I see no reason not to include them in places like main hubs etc

I dont believe I mentioned a 'reserved approach' in the sense that they should try to keep everyone alive and be more passive in their actions, no. I said that I didn't want them steamrolling everyone in sight all the time. Given the conditions of the concept I don't see why a battle-damaged garrison would put much effort into maintaining peaceful riot control when the opposition is a full-blown insurgency.

Also, on the topic of the Geneva Convention, I fully intend to have it play a MUCH smaller role in the grand scheme of things. World War Three has been going on for quite some time at this point in the lore, with both sides effectively desperate. Not to mention this particular concept focuses on a nation torn apart by civil war and the isolation of army elements. It'd be fully realistic for entities like the Stasi and Soviet Army to employ more harsh procedures. The way NJSOC and the insurgents operate would class them as illegal combatants anyways.

Aside from the lore, I wish to restrict the usage of the Geneva Convention pretty harshly to avoid the situation we had on the old WW3RP, where everyone was constantly threatening eachother with PKs because of some small nitpicky detail in the convention. As well as certain people dedicating a large amount of time to going through the entire convention to find small reasons to PK everyone they ever captured. It wasn't fun, it wasn't realistic and it was crappy as hell for everyone involved except the PK'er.

No, I don't intend for that to be a thing.

We currently have 'experimental' damage values on everything, meaning they'll likely be adjusted once we get feedback from combat taking place. Zip guns right now are very deadly when aimed at point-blank range, they have large damage dropoff over medium range and are very inaccurate beyond something like 5 meters.

Simfphys (the base we use) has a fuel system by default, I can likely mess with the config a bit to make fuel drainage faster, to be determined.

    Notes from the Q&A

Do you need auths to apply for the new occupied countries like Spain and Italy?

Countries in mainland Europe such as Greece, Spain, and France have been re-organised into nation states like "The Commune of France." with corresponding factions. There are new NATO Aligned Nations, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.

Will we see a dynamic advancement to the lore like in WW3RP or will be frozen in Eastern Germany?

Intially, the Stasiland is going to be in Germany. It depends how things roll out, and it's dependant on lore we don't want to roll out just yet, but we want to still hold the 'Event Influence' that WW3RP had in the past, however we also want to focus more on the Character.

How will the specialised divisions in the Soviet Army work?

Traditionally WW3 was very dependant on the 2 faction patrol function. This time around rank holds responsibility rather than ability or 'access' that it did before. In regards to specilisations, we will have them, from Assault Pioneers and Medics, along with Logistics, but we're still working on the specifics. The Stasi and the Soviets will be seperate, where the Soviets will be the Sledgehammer, the Stasi will be the scalpel.

    Who are the Faction Leads?

Char is leading the Soviet Army, Dazza is leading the Stasi, with Char as oversight. Danny is leading NJSOC, the Clandestine form of NJSOC.

    How will NATO Function?

NATO will be a small group of Special Forces and Intelligence Officers. They will supply Insurgents loyal to NATO, counter the Stasi and perhaps damage those seeking an independent Germany.

    Thoughts on TS? (To Char)

Had a lot of fun on teamspeak, but I really couldn't RP within Teamspeak. You're more than allowed to go on TS to talk, but end of the day its better the break away from the TS mentality.

Will there be events regarding Korea and Asia?

It isn't anything official, but we are thinking of doing events in regards to the conflicts, but we want to maintain the new idea and bringing back WW3 in its old form would ruin any success we had.

How is S2K going to work?

Well, you raise a gun with R and click to shoot. You might need to do a /me but we're still working that one out.

    How will PKs work?

If a Soviet shoots you because he's having a bad day, you won't be PK'd. It'll be Ironman within reason, if you as a Civillian take aggressive action like taking a armory or shooting at a patrol. Soviets won't be PK'd for doing their job like patrolling, but if you are a figure of importance like an officer you can expect to get PK'd if you are killed for being such.

    Who is the Servers Sponsor?

Maine Lemonade. Char's favourite lemonade is pineapple.

    How will NJSOC be split?

All of NATOs on the ground stuff will be done by operators while off-map drones and support will be done by intelligence agents.

Will there be policing for Civillian Groups?

We aim for freedom in this regard, and hope people remain serious.

Undecided, but I'm leaning towards allowing it since the RPG will be relatively rare and its ammunition will be hard to acquire. Would likely have IC restrictions as to what a military squad would bring to a certain situation. I reckon a soldier will defo want to save a precious rocket of which he can carry only a few in case some up-armored vehicle pops up or insurgents occupy a hard fortification.

It's very hard to comment on 'what the economy would be' until we see people handle the various systems and assign value to certain goods. We have a lineup of weaponry / equipment that will be relatively easy to acquire, with a sharp increase in quality-rarity for more powerful and specialised gear.

We can likely set up specific authorisations for people who wish to run something specific, most can be done IC without much auth hassle though if players can secure their own supplies etc.

Flags as in BMD? No. Though we do have a larger number of crafting flags for specific knowledge.

We dont have the system we used on old WW3RP anymore, currently deciding if it's worth porting over something similar. I'm personally under the impression that the old system worked in a constant pvp setting where it mainly accomodated a large medical branch. Seeing as it'd be a bit different this time around we can probably resort to the basic injuries and force people to roleplay accordingly.

I dont know how to answer this because it'd depend entirely on what those groups have in terms of equipment or how they'd go about using it. This isn't a faction vs faction concept where the 'insurgent' side has a pre-determined set of equipment.

Undetermined, we're still in development so most of it is still filled with useless crap that'll be taken out at some point. I'd advise people not to subscribe to it just yet as most will be useless and it'll only fill up your hard drive / be constantly updated/reworked.

If the backstory is realistic enough, in the setting of this concept it'd be weird to see a news entity from outside the warsaw pact survive.

    Those can be authorized backstories

    This was answered previously

Yeah, we do. Except I'm not very keen on using them seeing as they worked in a setting where pretty much every death was NLR and we had an engineering detachment that needed equipment to work with. However if we're going for an approach where deaths have more heavy consequences, we probably should steer away from near-invisible mines that kill indirectly.

Right now we don't have any plans for property rental seeing as we don't have any functional government entities outside of the Stasi and to an extent the Soviet Army. I reckon assigning buildings for stores etc will mostly happen through authorisations on the forums etc.

I don't intend to give people permanent homes as those are usually just abandoned or used solely for storage, would restrict a lot of the map. I suppose for stuff like camps etc it can once again go through authorisations to have something be made permanent etc.

This was answered a number of times already

This has been answered earlier in this post, please refer to that answer.

Yeah, I answered this pretty early on. We use simfphys, they've since added vehicles fitting to the lore, of which char already posted screenshots. Dunno about a simfphys air base though

I don't see why we wouldn't allow it, provided we have rules in place that only permit such attacks when there's a balanced number of Soviets online, seeing as death carries heavier consequences and an underequipped insurgent force would need balls of steel to assault a fully military target.

I intend for all armor to be visible, we've got a couple of protective vests in varying qualities that are visible on your body when you equip them. I'm still working on the full assortment of equippable suits, but I'm leaning towards keeping armor limited to vests you'll have to dispose of after use. Will be expanded upon later

I didn't initially intend for the 'radioman' to be a thing, right now we still have faction-wide radio channels. I might change that to the system we had on Generations 2 where you'd only be tuned in to the channel if you had a radio pack equipped. We'd have to balance out their usage in the field seeing as everyone just carried a radio pack during generations. As well as avoiding insurgents picking up dropped radio packs and having full access to soviet radio channels.

Please keep the thread limited to questions and small discussion

That'd be nice, but we don't have any sorta system to support short-range communications, unless we want to push it from a rule aspect (which never works from experience).

Here is another set of notes compiled by @STUCK IN A CAKE regarding Sats Q&A

Roosebud has done all the Lua programming and such, with additional help from Alex, Impulse etc

Danny has done all the design, media development

Main Lemonade is the official sponsored beverage of WW3RP

Q: "Does the USSR countries in the eastern block, do you need auth for countries such as spain?"

A: "USSR and Occupied Nations do not need to be applied for (Except N. Korea), nato remnants will need to be applied for. Allied countries need to be applied for"

Q: "Will we see a dynamic advancement to lore? Occupied countries liberated? Or frozen in germany?"

A: "The stazi land will be in germany, however it depends on how well recieved the idea. We do have plans in the future in the ww3rp sense, but not hopping over the globe. The lore will be interacted via character interactions"

Q: "How will Specialisation medical engineering ect. how will that work? And could civilians be contracted as civilian doctors and such?"

A: "Traditional WW3rp is rank = more authority. However now, rank will give more responsibillty - you could be the same rank for the full lenght of the server. You shouldn't be attempting to go up the rank, but rather playing your character.
The specilisation will be delt as a opputinity of which induviduals can train into, regardless of rank.
Regarding civilians for the soviets - you will have Soviet Armed Forces and Stasi, the Stasi are not like Commissars, and work like a fine instrument. The Stasi are counter insurgancy and targeted manhunt.
Soviets will be a sledge hammer and bring back authority and an overbearing presence.

Q: Will there be cross colabiration with the Stasi and Soviets?

A: Of course, the Stasi were a counter intelligence, hunting down defective soviet soldiers. Although they are on the same side, they are not forced to be friends.
We want to see that conflict and rivalry between the Soviets and Stasi, but they can rely on one another. Especially with the Terminal system. Which can cause fun dynamic.

Q: "Will there not be a stazi official in the base at all times?"

A: "Nah, not really - it would be hard to have these tensions if they sit around the base."

Q: "Who's going to be the faction leads?"

A: Char = Soviet Lead and OOC Overview. Dazza = Stazi faction lead. Danny = NJSOC. Roosebud will look over NATO ooc overview.

How NJSOC Works from Danny: "It will be a massive goal to make many unique characters with many specialisations. People coming in with different backgrounds - prevent a nasty circlejerk.
They are a small specialised faction that attempt to undermine the Soviet and quell independent resistance movements."

Independent Factions: "We want people to be dynamic and creative with the citizen faction, doing anything they can to either create their own independece with their own groups"

    Q: What about TS?

A: "We can't stop you from using it, but we will say it can hinder Roleplay. So maybe have it like hl2rp where they are ic channels for big raids or something where people can just chat"

Q: "Regarding Events - and idea that they go back into the korea war, old ww3rp kindof events to show that war is still going on"

A: "Roosebud and I, although not officially declared, we did want to make old style s2k events just for old time sake. However we also want to push for a new style events to show the new style of ww3rp
we are also prepairing a really nice opening event for character events"

Q: "How is s2k gonna work?"

A: "You get a gun, you raise it and you shoot it. We are going into s2k in the original sense - however we might need s2k to open up certain firefights. Still sorting out the logistics.
Pk Rules is an important thing about it. If you are in an insurgant group, going out to raid a soviet supply cashe - you can get PK'ed.
Soviets ain't gonna get PK'ed for doing their usual patrols. However if they have a reason to kill you specifically - or an imporant figure
you may get PK'ed for that.

    Q: Forums when?

A: When roosebud does it - also certain key doccuments require to be finished.

Q: In terms of NJSOC, the hard hitting big dick chads. Like the Stazi - they are gonna be intelligence based.

A: yeah, you have two types. Field Agents and Intelligence. Drones and such will be used by the Intelligence, the field agents will be the main rainbow 6 seige guys who do the active on the ground stuff.

Q: Is the UK gonna be seperate from the NJSOC?

A: There are different characters, from different areas. Like you will have a CIA guy working for NJSOC Intelligence. It's just an alliance of different special forces and allies.

Q: Will there some form of policing with the different groups? As civilians can do pretty much anything, will there be any real restrictions

A: You can do anything you want - however it must fit the atmosphere. Like if a faction rises and it's just a fucking joke, nothing stopping us from stopping it

Q: In terms of the Stazi and the Soviet Army, although there are rivalry, but also helping one another with resorces and such. I assume the stazi will be giving different weapons and equipment

A: We were going to decide on a police eliment, however we stopped that. However we do have alot of police resorces and non-lethal ways to take prisoners, originally for the Police faction - but now it's just going to be the stazi.

Q: The faction of the soviet army is going to be killing people who are dissistant, but the stazi will be the whole investigation?

A: The Soviets will be the main military brute force on the continent, the stazi will be the fine tuned instrument for investigations and intelligence

Q: Will there be a medical system?

A: The medical system isn't compatible with the helix system, so we are looking for a way to incorprate a system into ww3rp without being overbearing with scripts, like how hl2 does it

Q: The rank system, one thing i found cringy was the way - what I really like to see is some chain of command and respect, with a slow slope of higherachy. Making sense.

A: I've already stated this, when you get into the Soviet Faction - because it's now a finite ammount of people, as we accepted them into these ranks, when you join. You shouldn't be attempting to go up the rank ladder
it's about responsibillity, once you get a rank - you are most likly going to remain that rank. We've removed alot of the mundane filler ranks, like enlisted is only Soldier and Senior Soldier. Just to show veterancy with specilisation.
We will have capped NCO's. Of course, this isn't going to mean that you will never rank up - however we are moving away from Promotions becoming a reward, and more of your job
Rewards will be medals and requisition and such. Removing the promotion being given out by random people, an actual job and role - not a gimmick

Q: In the same breath of jackie chans crazy uncle, the computer system thingy for stock - how at the forefront, is it going to be a vendor or stock system. How will the terminal thingy work, can people breach it - and how will it be used?

A: We wanted to make it more player managed, however want to ensure it's not flawed where it relies on events or players being active, however we do want to move away from vendors. What we thing of doing is a mandatory stockpile which is filled regardless
however the dynamic of the server will depend the different actions people take

Q: Is there an actual system for the stazi and whatnot for arresting people, and how detainment will actually work.

A: Ranging from Temp PK to full PK, it's going to be case by case. It's up to the Stazi as to what they will do to the induvidual.
The dynamic of the Soviets and Stazi will also cause tension - where the soviets will not deal too much with capture. Which could conflict with what the stazi will be doing.

Q: Can the soveit engage with the local shops? Extort them, and corruption?

A: The german currancy is only as worth as much as people make it. The soviets are not going to have much interest with the econamny of the stazi land because they have their own requisition to buy their own luxary.
Civilian groups can also make their own currancy and such if they really want to, if they get big enough

Q: PK system - stazi being pked, are there safe zones?

A: We are going for an Ironman mode, PK's will happen alone. Just because you are in the base - doesn't mean you are safe. You should be worried.

Q: Are we going to have different vehicles?

A: We posted the images of the vehicles, we have more than the old ww3rp. We have all sorts of new vehicles and such.

Q: Tell me about these models my dude.

A: Danny made some edits to some existing models, but we have not got a final decision yet. WE have many models available and using all sorts of stuff to ensure a wide range of different appearances. Still looking for suitable, ensure to hit me up with suggestions.

Q: How will scripts be introduced to the civilian population

A: Item spawners for some of the low tier equipment, but we will not allow the civilian econamy to be soley reliant. Typical events which can be intercepted and such. The major factions can introduce certain weapons and equipment. I will make a list later.

Q: Will the UN and Red Cross be introduced later?

A: In this setting, they have even less of a purpose to even exist in the area. The red cross might be interesting later, however I will keep it in character for certain authorised groups. But no plans from us.

Q: When's the forums coming out?

A: Down to me (roosebud) and blackquill to get it sorted out in the week, with the reasonable threads. Ensure that it comes out before CNS dies, this is his make a wish foundation wish.

Q: what will be made of civilians or NJSOC using the geneva convention to play their captors like a fiddle

A: There is pretty much no geneva convention - read the thread

Q: What will be for people being able to open up their own store or something

A: It's going to be hard for it to survive basically in a wasteland like Staziland - with bandits

Q: Who came up with the 'Rust' weapons

A: I just added them because they will be easy to accquire, craft and get. You can attack people with rocks if you want, Me no share with berry tribe. But they come attack with big rock tiger

Q: Shown in your little teaser thing, weapon pack. I datamined it - and found lots of drugs in it. Will people going to get flags to set up their sort of farm and such to get drugs?

A: I've added a bunch of flags and crafting tools to ensure people to gather resorces and seeds and what not to actually grow and manifacture these products.

Q: The blackmarket, will that stem from NJOSC being a supply - however will it be from sourced by civilians in another way?

A: I don't want a black market system where items are spawned from the aether. However it will most likely be a form of logistics, similar to the Soviet. Where certain citizens can obtain equipment from their own sources
where they will engage in a risky run in order to gain supplies
You can also be supplied with equipment by NATO or Soviet if you work on their behalf.
Attachments will hold their own seperate rarity, some can be crafted or easily sorced. However certain equipment such as high powered scopes can be hard to obtain.

Q: Crafting flags, how are we gonna stop some guy becoming extreamly powerful and gaining equipment and resorces from everywhere to simply supply their friends

A: Crafting flags for advanced equipment will be extreamly specific, where one man cannot craft everything themselves and rely on one another, as well as this, people can craft their own equipment like shivs

Q: With the currancy, is it going to be like a salary?

A: As I said, they take up physical space, and they only have value as to what people assign to them. And no, there is no salary system. Requistion is only given to soviets as a reward.
Most people will kindof spawn with a few german currancy, and can obtain in certain ways. How? Will be up to player choice.

Q: Will there be some soviet stockpiles around the map?

A: We wanted to introduce stockpiles around the map, with certain critera for milita to raid it. And soviets will be guarding it.
Ontop of this, because of the iron man mode, it brings a whole dynamic of roleplay to the firefights. People fight for a specific reason
They might raid a stockpile for more equipment or food, their is something to protect and a risk to each firefight.

Q: Will there be reprisent some form of representative for a government?

A: At the start, it's a stazi land - a lawlass kindof land, no real plans to bring them into a development faction presentation, however in the future
if people want to kindof start that sort of roleplay - we are not going to stop them

Q: Are we really going to the logistic systems with the computers

A: Still in the works, however we are really going to attempt to focus the terminals into the whole logistics

Shoutout to rapid juice cns paypall here> i can't remmeber lol

Q: will there be areas in the soviet compound like bunks and personal storages that can actually be used now that there's a cap and roster on who is in the faction. personal storages wont be locked and stealing can be an IC matter etc

A: Yeah, sure why not - it's a finite certain ammount of people, so it can be orginised.

    Q: Player count?

A: Not decided yet, helix can support 110 players - but that's to choose.

Q: Will there be alot of staff intervention, will we need auths to do lots of things?

A: Pretty widespread question, what do you mean?

    Q: Gameplay

A: We are still working on the rules of course, however a certain ammounmt of staff intervention will need to present to prevent certain groups get out of hand
however we do not wish to restrict creative freedom

Q: What will the drones requirements be used? Are they easy to call in?

A: Without getting into too much detail of how the NJSOC faction works, the drones will be operated by off map chacters - they can recon an area, the cameras will not zoom in enough to gain a certain degree of accuracy and they will be short timed

Q: What is the balance of s2k and rp in the new ww3rp

A: We cannot conduct the old style events because we don't want to allow players to gain equipment too easily. RP is focused over s2k

As a note - the applications are more roleplay IC based, your abbility to actually roleplay and immerse yourself into the scenario. Being able to read up on history and knowing how the factions work.
They will not be hard to apply for, however we care more of your abillity to conduct a compelling character and story rather than how well you can be trusted oocly

Q: What's the uh restriction of uh citizens gonna get cars

A: We will have ID's and licenses, mainly in character which can be applied for. You will need a good reason to actually require a vehicle. And illegitimate vehicles can be accquired.

Q: Will the chinese work with the stazi?

    A: No.

Q: What is the style of customisation for premium?

A: Not really sure, drop us a sugession in forum convo - we are genually attempting to think of an idea.
Bodygroups may mostly be open for most people to modify

Q: Do we have a bunch of spy equipment?

A: Yeah, we do - join NJSOC to find out

Q: What are the virtues you looking for in the staff team?

A: That's a broad question, it will be up to the typical 'What is your motivation, reason to join, experiance' and so on.
We are also looking for people who know the lore and setting to create events. The bar will be raised for them

Q: Will there ever be a mention of the middle east with how their politics will be?

A: We will create a sort of world building side, with the realise of OOC lore doccuments and how it progresses. However we will focus the release to more In Character doccuments, like newspapers.
Also we would like people from all over the world to write doccuments on how their country would react to the setting, as long as it makes sense.

Q: Will we see lore doccuments in the similar sense? Seeing things from around the world?

A: Pretty much the previous section, we want to flesh out the world outside the map we are in.

Q: Will there be any reference to the UK?

A: the UK is the last operating base in Europe, so it will play a major role in events unfolding.

    Q: What happened to yugoslavia?

A: Soviets propping the government up, so yugoslavia is kindof still around and nuetural somewhat. Maybe have it an event one day.

Tito lost his thumb in a steel faction, he went over to the Soviets and when he came back, he had two thumbs

Q: What civillian ethnicities are banned?

A: We have a lore doccument for lore building and character building which will come out later.

    - Regarding the drug question, it's up to player on how widespread and valuable they will be.

Q: Will the stazi be in clothes or uniform

A: It will depend on what they're doing

Q: Will their be a chess addon

A: I spent money on it, so yeah

    - Regarding the content, you shouldn't be subscribing to it yet. It's bloated and oversized with useless assests at the moment. It will cut down in a while.

Q: Will their be grapple gear?

A: It will be very rare for very specific factions.

You can become very exotic characters, but you will need to apply for it.

Free France in Africa - the map will show where everything is in exile or situated

Q: What is the process of accquiring synthetic drugs

A: Random spawns, random factions, knowlage to produce them and set up a propper drug lab and work station to produce them

Well, up until 1983 history played out as it did in real life, save for some "minor" edits. I reckon there'd still be plenty of stockpiles around the world, and with World War Three going on for so long and minor countries being conquered or falling into civil war there'd likely be a lot of government issued equipment falling into 'private' hands.

Though in the end we can theorize lore all we want, I don't intend to make ww2 weaponry spawn more often than your average 80s weaponry for example. Higher-grade military equipment will be sourced almost exclusively from factions ye.

We didn't change much about Ireland in the lore, so you'd be correct in assuming it's still a shithole.

The Stasi, Soviets and NJSOC will be hidden from the scoreboard for the most part, perhaps we'll allow the non-priority personnel to be visible so people can check to fulfil faction activity requirements for baseattacks etc.

    This has been answered above

They're at war, but not on their own soil (yet), though I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean being able to PK your own characters in other ways than just suicide? I wouldn't personally put much restrictions on that, as long as it doesn't result in people requesting PKs on their own characters only to come back a month or so later with an excuse like "but he didnt die" to dodge IC repercussions or w/e.

Lore-wise it'd be a huge stretch to assume random civilians can get out of war-torn Europe, let alone reach a country like Australia / US.

It's something we can turn on if we want, currently experimenting with how it'd be balanced on the server. Might be a way to slowly degrade high-tech equipment to avoid top dogs dominating with such equipment.

I mean as in, they don‘t die, they just escape the War-Zone (somehow) and they get banned so the players can‘t play on them any more.

I'd love weapons degrading, then it would allow items like 'Weapon Maintinance Kits' to be important to keep good quality weapons in good shape

No, PAC3 is mounted so that we can facilitate certain items appearing on your character. We have code in place that prevents non-founders from using it.

We already "answered" this, I reckon it'll have the typical premium locker / PET flags but beyond that we haven't come up with anything else. I asked for suggestions but didn't really get any

Fun fact we already have a dog whitelist based on the one we had before, except this time it has its own swep with sounds.

Not sure what to do with it tho

Dont see the benefits of it, equipped stuff already drops anyways. Good way to cycle items out of circulation and prevent top dogs from hoarding gear

"Militia" isn't really going to be a faction on itself, I don't have any plans to restrict people having multiple characters as a civilian.

Undecided on rules regarding joining back with your friends the moment you get PKd, not entirely sure how we'd enforce/facilitate that.

For all intents and purposes the civilians starting faction will be the biggest one in play, ye.

    StOp ShItPoStInG

Don't see much use for them as they only ever provoke edgyness, people bickering about the effects etc

I answered a whole bunch of questions about firearms already, damage right now is relatively high but will likely face adjustments after a couple of weeks, once we gather proper feedback

Body armor functions as body armor, except this time it's a wearable discardable item instead of repairable armor attached to a suit. They'll probably be quite rare but can stop several pistol rounds to the torso like they should.

Bans from CW WW3RP will be carried over, no point in wiping an existing banlist.

Already answered this, the concept doesn't really function with frequent mapchanges so I'd rather get a decent main map
