Thing is, some parts of the army - even though they were first pro-government are now mad because Turkish people are beheading and lynching soldiers everywhere they see (privates who have nothing to do with the coup and are just following orders).

i think it's been heated all the time, just no coverage because of the lovely turkish government
i love censorship
the president is definitely trying to cover up the coup
in attempt to kill off the snow ball effect
At any rate, this coup ain't dying without major military combat it seems.

OK here is my honest opinion

The coup went down, Obama made sure to make an address himself, directly saying that the legit government had to be supported.
The only reason Obama would DIRECTLY say such thing, over making vague statements or simply remain silent is because he knew/was almost 100% sure it was going to fail. If he thought it would/could work out, he wouldn't have started on the wrong foot with the Military, as again, Turkey is key.

Now, Erdogan claims that the US is behind this crazy shit (everyone claims the US is behind everything anyways) and blames them, so he seized the american base.

WHICH HAPPENS TO HOLD THE NATO NUCLEAR MISSILES IN THE FUCKING AREA

If Turkey takes hold of the missiles it could be a problem. It's very unlikely, unless Russia participates in it.
If Russia participates, they will have to help an attack on an American base (the only way to get in and get the missiles), effectively declaring war on America and effectively starting world war 3.
I don't think this is very likely, probably won't happen.

Now, the US would curb stomp Turkey, and keep their shit safe, unless Russia puts their foot down.
Many times in the past, Russia says 'no' and the US shuts up and takes it, because they don't want the fucking world to blow up. I don't think Putin wants the world to blow up either, so all is guchi.

This is the closest we've been to a DEFCON 3 however, if those missiles get taken over that could be a problem.

Nah, everywhere is under government control now pretty much. Military realized there's no chance they can do anything without the support of the retarded barbarian Islamic Turkish people
