2003
December
The Science Team at Black Mesa fail to close off the portal between Xen and Earth.
Dr. Gordon Freeman was reported to have never made it past the dam.
The military forces of the HECU and Black Ops fail to complete their mission and Race X continues their invasion unhalted.
Adrian Shephard did not survive the crash.
Most of the American West Coast is consumed by the strange alien lifeforms and hostile fauna, forcing a mass migration east and southward.
Any attempts of a cover-up have failed miserably.
In response the United States Government gives the go ahead to commence nuclear strikes on the encroaching alien force. This would soon be realized to be a wasted effort as Race X would quickly recover from these attacks, almost at a faster rate than before.
The remaining civilian population just outside the restricted zone are forced to escape the now very soon infested area as they receive an early warning of an incoming strike.
2007-2010
By this point most of the United States, Canada and half of South America have been completely taken over by multiple alien invaders, not just from Xen or Race X.
Earth has become a hotspot for many eyes across the stars with reports of minor incursions in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Efforts to contain alien forces from expanding out of the Americas have been mixed, with many only being stopped once they reached the mainland of Western Europe and East Asia, leaving much of the outer coastline open to construction of large alien structures.
Much of what was left of the US Government was now ruling from what was left of the US Navy near the United Kingdom, trying to provide what little aid it could to the civilian population left in the United States who are now trapped in a fight for survival.
2019-2029
The affects of the gene worm's colonization of Earth had reached and covered most of Asia and Eastern Europe has gone dark. There have been stories of what some have come to call "blood farms", small harvesting camps where both humans and animals are drained of all their blood and completely disemboweled and then tossed to the side in masse graves.
The US Navy along with the US Government have suddenly set sail to an unknown location without warning and have yet to be sighted again. Many have speculated that they have gone for the artic region but nobody has been able confirm these rumors with most artic bases going quiet.
The couple thousands still left in the United States are now held out in a walled off town with very little hope of escaping, the presumed last of a nation.
2030
Western Europe had finally fallen to the overpowering force that now stood before them, the last holdout of humanity was no more.
Around this time however things had begun to shift in no ones favor as portal storms would make their second appearance in history, unseen since the events at Black Mesa.
The reason for their sudden return would quickly be learned as a massive super structure would phase itself between worlds inside what was once New York City.
The year 2030 would become a permanent mark on the world, unchanging.
