What is it you're Suggesting?: Make this a Player Owned Business in which people can buy various motor vehicles on both an outright full purchase and on a finance basis if they can't afford to fork over the lump sum.

I don't mind, I even love the idea because I'd rather have as much human engagement as possible, but it will need OOC safeguards and placed in the hands of a trusted, reliable player who is around frequently. or it should just be in the hands of staff.

I say this because PDM is effectively an essential business, when we're able to purchase vehicles it will most likely wind up being the only place to buy them for awhile until the server grows in population to support a secondary car business. Core businesses like that should have no room for fuckery, no one who goes on long stretches of leave should be holding it. It needs to be reliably accessible and not a straight up scam or a money printer either.

Gov't should probably control pricing, allowing very thin profit margins to pay staff. There should be no "I dislike x, y, and z so they'll never get a car" sort of shit going on, otherwise we're just going to wind up with an NPC vendor to avoid the eventual drama.

So my thought is that the cost gets broken down into three parts:
-the biggest chunk of which just goes into the void, disappears, taken out of the economy entirely.
-government tax, this goes into government funding pot. Maybe 10-15% of the cost of the vehicle.
-profit, right into business account to be split as decided by the operating manager/partner/CEO

Whoever makes the sale should get the business profits imo so it's like getting paid per sale rather than having to wait and it can then be added to the paycheck you collect at the bank

I think it should be decided by who ever runs it imo if it's going to be player owned and operated. If player A owns the business and decides to hire B, C, and D, then player A should probably retain the right to decide how profits are divided amongst the employees. Player A might want a bigger cut as the CEO, or maybe decide B,C, and D should get equal division of profit at the end of a pay period instead of a commission-per-sale. I don't think this thing in particular needs OOC management or regulation.

Yeah but then you run the risk of employees not getting paid and it all being based on an activity thing. I get where your coming from but you'll have scenarios in which you have employees bugging their employer for money and that'd just be a headache for the employer, which is why if the employees ring up their sales on the cash register then any sales they make personally, they get a slice of, we can still have it where a percentage goes into the business account and that way both parties employee and employer are happy and it cuts out a needless chore.

Which is why from the start I insisted on this business (and specific "essential" businesses) being owned by staff or a very trusted player that staff can rely on to be around often and not fuck around otherwise have it taken away.

People not getting paid from player-owned businesses in general like that is also more an RP issue than an OOC one imo. If employees are getting shorted by their boss that's a thing that can be taken to court and dealt with.

I actually already did this. Only for an hour or two, but I stole cars off the street and sold them for ridiculously cheap prices, since you can share the keys to people. Was pretty fun making little advertisements to sell stolen cars.
