Suggestion Request for Towing

The server has been having some proper problems with vehicles being abandoned for extended periods of time. Most of the time blocking traffic and generally staining the appearance of the town. On another community, the players had the ability to approach the vehicle and request for it to be towed; which would create a semi-permanent blip for the towing job and allow the tow truckers to pick it up at their own convenience. There were obviously the set of conditions which validate whether the vehicle was eligible to be towed or not; illegal parking.

I am aware that making this option public at first might be a little overwhelming, so I believe allowing the emergency services (EMS and PD) to use said mechanic for trial testing would be a good way in approaching in implementing this mechanic. Probably create a little app for the phone or something along those lines which allows you to report a vehicle for towing.

I second this. Yes please. It sends a notification out to any and all active Tow Truckers clocked in and MY GOD is it useful

My suggestion: 1. From the get go, give tow truck drivers bleeps of spawned NPC cars to go pick up and drop off at the impound.

2. Make an app that lists active clocked-in tow truck drivers showing their name and phone number, with a clickable button to call them, useful for calling in a player-tow.

3. Part of the app is like the taxi app, where you click a button and it sends an alert to the driver pinging your location, plus an option to call them.

I say, PD and EMS Only full stop, dont bother allowing the public to use it, it'll just get easily abused.

I mean bro that's not entirely true, and there are staff who can check things like this easily.

On another server they give you the option to request for tow and also full on despawn the car in the case that it's bugging the fuck out and runing RP, available to everybody mind you. I've never seen it be abused either.

And I'm saying it's really easy to see if people abuse it and that staff have ways of checking, and coming from a server where people have it indiscriminately I have never seen it be abused not once in 500 hours

Edit: Let me give you an example when we do use it. There is a spot at the restaurant where we work that a local parks a car onto, but that same spot shares a location with the parking garage so we have to use the despawn function to get rid of it because it scuffs everything out.

Another example, same restaurant. The car for a boost spawns in a spot that locals also park their car on, so we have to clear it every time it happens. No abuse to be seen.

Like if a dude goes around despawning people's cars they will be banned?

If the vehicle has been stationary for a few minutes allow a report. Also plz give us the option to scuff impound (send right back to garage, or the void if unowned) cars.

Given the server is not restricted by a whitelist. The severity of bans is not exactly as high as one might like to think.

NP public servers has had an influx of shitlords that break a quantity of rules, but never the impound button. It was never a problem.

The risk of abuse is very very low from an impound request feature. With a timer requirement it’s almost non-existent.

Even the few, rare cases people will troll with it, RP can come if it and if your car was just scuff impounded and sent to garage it’s not like, the end of the world, yknow.

Someone memes and sends an impound request? I can RP with the tow driver if I catch them. I can beat up the person requesting tows. I can sue that person for having me unlawfully towed.

Shitlords would rather go get a gun and go blasting before putting in the effort to sit at a nice car for 5 minutes and send meme tow requests. In my long experience on NP, I’ve only had someone meme scuff impound my car back to my garage a grand total of ONCE.

Someone sends it to my garage? Annoying. Report if it wasn’t for an obvious reason. Go get my car from my garage and move on with my day. But it’s not so frustrating I’d want the whole feature whitelisted to specific factions.

Well of course this isn't NP, I'm planning (hoping) for Neb to be better.

Why do you expect more trolls to come to Neb and mess with mechanics than NP? No sense, if anything NP just proves that this feature works seeing as they're a high-traffic server and we've only just started off, and they don't have a problem with griefers abusing the tow feature.

If anything you'd be more liberal with it considering the size of the playerbase.

Just stop gatekeeping man I get that you want it all for yourself because you're EMS and you only want PD and EMS to use it but the moment you start to divide the playerbase is the moment you get a problem with faction imbalance.

He’s not saying this is NP.

He, and I are saying that we’ve been somewhere that’s far more populated, far more trafficked, with a much greater influx of shitlords due to its popularity that this server will NEVER see (blessed) and that the specific feature that is being advocated for right now goes unabused in such a busy, hectic environment. So…why gatekeep it here where the population is much smaller and less hectic?

We’re speaking from experience in bigger, crazier environments. And besides, where do you think Alex got the idea for a GTA server from anyway??? Man consumes Chang Gang NP content like my uncle watches Fox News.
