real talk, who pushes the major 1.0 update out at 11 PM PST/2 AM EST in the middle of the work week when you tell everyone it's going to be released on a particular day but in reality just for a small portion of your player base?

don't tell everyone that you're releasing the update on the 20th when really only the west coast of the us is getting it on the 20th, everyone else gets it on the 21st and don't put out the shittiest console release i've seen in decades.

early access isn't an excuse when they're hitting their 1.0 benchmark and releasing on one of the major consoles. the stability on the xbox platform is awful. melee system on pc is still trash. optimization is still trash (even DayZ is better optimized).

A vid I watched recently described it as 'Dayz with the boring bits cut out' and yeah- I can see what they mean. Personally Fortnite is just faster paced (imo at least, I've not played PUBG so take it with a pinch of salt) and more appealing on the eyes. (Then again I still like TF2 so maybe I'm BIASED @shibe p )

I can agree on this one, PUBG has a huge fucking map and people jump all around it. Like the first 5 minutes is action, then the next 15 minutes is either running or driving and then you either die or camp in a bush in the small zone that's left and then die

people don't even just jump all around, they all jump at like really specific spots and parts of the map will just be dead zones. Within the first 10 seconds or so, half the players have already hopped off at military base, power plant, school, or firing range.

hell, i just hop off at ruins most of the time because no one goes to ruins.

my biggest gripe about fortnite is the aesthetics. it's too cartoonish. i can't stand that. if i wanted that aesthetic, i'd go play super lucky's tale. it feels too much like a cartoon and less like a battle royale/survival game.

I can concede that the development process for Fortnite is more consistent and polished, but I cannot get past the aesthetic, I really can't. I pay a stupid amount of attention to detail. I've always hated the aesthetics of TF2, I can barely bring myself to play OW (and I only bought it because it was on sale and people were begging me to buy it but then never wanted to play). I prefer more realistic looking atmospheres, especially in these types of games.

It, at least to me, adds more immersion and with players able to use camo clothing to blend into the environment it adds a more challenging aspect to gameplay. It forces me to use my sight and hearing to the best of my ability to spot and go after enemies. Fortnite is just too colorful (I took issue with this even in Halo 4 [I preferred Reach's more grittier look] which was a balance of really bright and colorful but good attention to detail), it's too cartoonish. I'm probably missing out on some really fun gameplay, but the aesthetic is a major turn off that I really can't get past.

Nor do I always necessarily want fast paced game play, if I wanted that I'd play Dota 2's turbo mode. I like having to plan out a proper strategy that takes landscape, location, direction, even the sound of gun fire into account, especially if I'm playing with friends. I prefer something that's a slowburn that forces me to think and carefully plan my next step.

The one thing I like about PUBG, at least when it addresses camping is the red zone, which as I'm sure you know, shit starts blowing up in that zone. It could be tweaked, concentrate on areas where there are more players and force them to keep moving, or what have you. But at least there's some mechanism in place already that's meant to keep people moving (besides the big ol forcefield of pain), it's just simply not polished.
