The thing is, if you fight without info, it can lead to pretty annoying stuff. I mean, I still do it, not gonna lie, I still manage to have no problem without teamspeak and just typing really fast while fighting (cause i'm a fast typer obv), it's just easier for coordination most of the time if I use teamspeak.
don't take this as a personal insult but you should adapt to the new situation anyway and fight accordingly

be smart about your surroundings/always bring backup etc

i doubt radios will be readily available for everybody unless you're in a whitelist either

It’s kind of metagamey and powergamey to shoot and use the radio at the same time. I know it’s easier but I personally don’t think s2k and VOIP is fair.

fr if ts is used then a rule should be put in place that you cant leave people out of patrols/missions cos they arent in ts
i was guilty of doing this and looking back it was extremely stupid and bad for what was a rp server
i mean if you mean s2rp its a terrible experience because most times ive done it some prick has delayed it for about 30 minutes so their buddies can zerg rush me
ive been spoiled by private servers

But how would you then restrict teamspeak? If combat starts suddenly, you are not going to force players to tab out to shut down teamspeak. In the old system, this probably could have been enforced better, but for insurgency groups, combat could start at anytime, anywhere on the map.

groups of people could easily just make a private discord and use voice chat there. Just seems like less people will use TS, that's all.
there's literally very little you can do about this too, so people will use teamspeak/discord regardless

im very neutral about the addition of a rule prohibiting the use of a 3rd party program for communication, because i simply enjoy talking to my friends while we play something

You might aswell allow people to use TS, and to take the information ICly
If you don't, they'll go off and make discord's

It's a better alternative, have a place where you can moderate what's being done, as opposed to giving people an excuse to go manage themselves.

TL;DR keep ts

I think I remember a private discord being discovered that had a bunch of metagamed shit on the old server, so limiting it would most likely just make the issue worse.

You can take cover in a S2K situation but if the dude rushes you as you are typing, it's not really the same as if you were screaming it. Kind of hard to talk while fighting at the same time too so..
but it's also incredibly hard to shout down the radio "im being POW'd at xyz help me quick" while someone is gunpointing you centimetres away without them knowing

being in teamspeak for me ruins the atmosphere and puts a restriction on how much you actually roleplay the only thing it was useful for was extra communication during patrols. seeing as the old patrol and s2k playstyle is gone it would do more harm than good

Do not worry Medley, I'll adapt, if you did read what I said in the paragraph you quoted without ignoring most of it, I said that I have no problem with that because I always did it before hand anyway.
